Society of St John of the Cross
Church came to order at v 8:00
p-m- in the Parish Hall. The meet-
ing was called to order by Presi-
dent Otto Raska, and opened with

ther Brack to give a talk on the

CATHEDRAL LUNCHEON
A luncheon was given by the
Corpus Chrlsti Cathedral Parish
at noon Saturday, May 30 in the
Cathedral Auditorium for Father
Francisco Aguirre after bis or-
dination to the priesthood. Father
being ordained a priest. Father
Aguire was joined at the lunch-
eon. by his parents, and Bishop
Gsrriga, Auxiliary Bishop Adolph
Marx, soma dose friends and the
priests from the surrounding
parishes. The luncheon was pre-
pared by Mrs- Mary Smith, Mrs.
Charles Carter, Miss Augustina
Guzman, and Mrs. Louise Smejkl
and was served by Mrs. John Ar-
nold, Mrs. Alfred Gunaway, Mrs.
James Pope, Mrs. Joe Garza,
Mrs* B. V. Corona and MrB. B-
M. Estes of tlve Cathedral' Moth-
ers Club*
Council 4157 in Corpus Christ!
has new officers who will taka
over at the first meeting in July.
Elections were held at the June
meeting with R, L. Magsam,
Grand Knight; Ai Kollaja, De-
puty Grand Knight; Bill Tower,
Chancellor; Frank Rosnovsky, Re-
corder; John Kaler, Treasurer;
Raul Stevens, Advocate; Joe Ric-
hard, Warden; Gene Neslouy, In-
side Guard and Travis Johnston,
Outside Guard.
Kingsville Council 3389 ex-
tends a hearty welcome to all the
■knights in this area to attend
their Independence Day celebra-
tion in their city. They promise
a big day for all.
Corpus Christ! Council 1202 will
hold elections Monday 8, June-
. In Laredo last month the
Knights of Columbus from the
great state of Texas met in con-
vention to elect State Officers,
work out solutions to old problems

Oblates of
St. Benedict
The Oblates of ot. Benedict en-
joyed an interesting program at
their last meeting, which was
held last Friday, May 29th^ at
the Corpu” Chrlsti Priory.
The meeting was opened with
prayer, led by Rev. Philip
O’Regan, O.S-B-, Spiritual Direc-
tor of the Oblates.
Guests, who were welcomed at
•the meeting, were Mr. George
McMahon and Mrs. Leo Schnei-
der of this city, and Miss' Sally
Guerrero of Refugio, Texas*
Father Philip then introduced
Rev- Gabriel Franks, O.S.B., the
guest speaker of the evening. Fa-
ther Gabric1 gave an interesting
account of the consecration of the
Abbey Church at Subiaco, Arkan-
sas, last March Father also gave
a detailed description of the
Church itself,'including the archi-
tecture, materials used, and other
features- Father said the church
,ia the first to be consecrated in
Arknsas and is also the largest

resolutions was the usual one
in memory of deceased knights of
the past year- Their names were
read individually to the assembl-
ed convention, paying respect to
their memory. The Knights in so
exemplifying fraternity within
the Order also recognize and re-
