H D Hearn who lives in Dal-
las has invented a boll weevil ex-
terminator Tho inventor claims
that it will also doBtoy wheat flies
ants graBshopporB and other do
struotivo pests The contrivance
is very simple and consists of a
pole about seven feot long and a
wire about five feet long with
three wire buckets These poles
are placed in the ground about 300
yards apart and at such angle that
the wire and basket hang straight
up and down In the baskets is a
mixture of seven diGerent kinds of
ohemicnls At night these chemi-
cals are ignited and they make a-
very bright light which attracts
the pests The poles are placed
on the windward side of a cotton or
wheat field and it is claimed that
if the breeze is not too strong the
fumes from the burning chemicals
will kill the insects a mile from
from the light
Mr Hearn says that he ha8
given his invention a complete
test and stands willing to demon-
strate to the government experts
that ho has the best exterminator
of cotton pests that has been placed
on the market It is said by Mr
Hearn that the fumes are not dan-
gerous to either man or beast and
that it is in fact one of the best dis-
infectants known and will kill all
kinds of germs as well as pests
Mr Hearn is very sure that he
has discovered the right thing to
rid the country of the above men
tioned peste and is anxious to give
a demonstration before
