INTRODUCTION. In our Gospel reading today Jesus
shows his mercy to the sick and the afflicted We auk
his father to show his mercy to ub and to all men.
1 — That the Prince of Peace may relax tensions and
end hostilities, we pray to the Lord:
LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!
2 — That Christ’s Church may always bhow the faith
and humility which her Founder praised in the
centurion, we pray to the I.ord:
LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!
3 — That our Christian charity may extend even to
those as outcast as the leper in today’s Gospel
reading, we pray to the Lord:
LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!
4 — That all Catholics may have greater confidence in
the healing power of the Sacrament of the Anoint-
ing of the Sick, we pray to the Lord:
LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!

6 — That those suffering in body, and in spirit, and in
soul may find relief and refreshment in their
meeting with Christ in the Holy Eucharist, we

Fourth Degree* Knights of
Columbus from the Fourth
District of the Guadalupe
Province will hold an ex-
emplification ceremony
Jan. 19 in Corpus Christi
Some 60 new mem hers
from the Corpus Christi
and Brownsville Diocese
will complete the fourth
degree rites at the ceremo-
ny here, F. R. Lane, mas-
ter of the fourth district,
said.
The activities will be-
gin with u 10 a.m. Mass
at the Corpus Christi
Cathedral, followed by
the exemplification at
1:30 p.m. at the Cathe-
dral Hall.
A banquet for the new
members of the order
will be held at 6 p.m. at
the home of the local K
of C Council on South
Alameda.
Overall arrangements for
the ceremony are under
the direction of J. Bellew,
vice supreme master of the
Guadalupe Province. Lane
is in charge of local ar-
rangements.
The K of C exemplifica-
tion will be the first such
ceremony in the Corpus
Christi area in about three
years, Lane said.

celebrate the end of school
exams will be co-sponsored
by the CYO groups of four
of the Corpus Christi par-
ishes:
Christ the King, Our
Lady of Perpetual Help, St.
Patrick’s, and Sts. Cyril
and Methodius.
It will be held Thursday,
Jan. 23, from 7:30 to 10:30
p.m. at the GULF skating
rink. Admission will be
only 50 cents. Free skate
rental!
At the general meeting
of the Women’s Auxiliary
of Spohn Hospital, Corpus
Christi Jan. 8, new officers
for the coming year were
installed.
They are MrB. George
Mallard, president; Mrs. J.
D. Shropshire, president-
elect; Mrs. W. E. Tillack,
vice-preside *', Mis. Paul
Nye, recording secretary;
Mrs. Landon Curry, cor-
responding secretary; Mrs.
Edna Bush, treasurer; Mrs.
M. C. Mireur, assistant
treasurer; and Mrs. Sam
- Menczer, parliamentarian.
Mrs. Menczer has served
as president lor the past
two years.
The general business ses-
sion included progress re-
ports of the various project
chairmen. The money mak-
ing projects are the Coffee
Shop, Gift Shop, Coffee
and Magazine Carts, Baby
Photo Service, and Flower
Delivery Service. All prof-
its are donated to the hos-
pital.
It was announced that
during the past year, the
auxiliary has donated
more than $3,000 toward
the pledge of $150,000 to
the Spohn Hospital
Building Fund which is
to be paid over a five
year period, this being
the second year’s, pay-
ment

ship is gained by paying
one hundred dollars.

Holy Family Guild, St.
Martin de Porres, has re-
cently been formed includ-
ing the following members:

son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Cantwell, Mr. and Mrs.
Mike McMahon, Mr. and
Mrs. Bobby Whitworth,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chap-
man, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Wilems, Mr. and Mrs.
Dwight Eisenhower, and
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ma-
thieus.
The first and third
Thursdays of each
month, from 8 to 10
p.m., were chosen as the
time of the meetings.
The study book selected
is "The Spirit of Renew-
al.’’ The guild project is
to help needy families
with food and clothing
at designated intervals.
Abbott Alfred Hoenig,
O.S.B., is moderator of the
new St Martin de Porres
Guild.
Father Chamberlin was
appointed chairman of a
committee including
himself, Father Erdelt,
and Father Okruhlik to
investigate the cost of
owning and operating an
putomobile, then to
make recommendations
as to what would be a
ftir arrangement be-
tween the priest and the
institution he serves in
meeting these expenses.
The Senate of Priests
recommended to the Asso-
ciation of Priests that it
take concrete steps to en-
courage study groups
among the priests of the
diocese.
Tabled for further discus-
sion were questions con-
cerning priests’ retreats,
parish councils, and more
frequent regional .neetings
of priests for bef er coordi-
nation of plans ind activi-
ties.
The Senate will meet
again Friday, Feb. 14, in
Sacred Heart rectory, in
Rock port.
