'The Amityville Horror'
edge-of-your-seat scary
Heather Atkinson
Entertainment Editor
"The Amityville
Horror" is a sus-
penseful horror flick
that will keep you at
the edge of your seat
to see what will hap-
pen next.
It's based on a true
story about a man
that went crazy and
planned a killing
spree on his family
He tried to say that
he heard voices com-
ing form the house
they were living in
telling him to "katch
'em and kill 'em;"
talking about his fam-
ily.
Well that same
house in which these
murders happened is
being sold in the
movie, but as you can
imagine, no one
wants to buy a house
in which there has
been a murder.
Fortunately a
family is looking
for a nice house to
start a new life in, but
what they don't
know is that the
house makes the
male of the house do
wierd things.
They wind up buy-
ing the house. It starts
out good, but it takes
a turn for the worst
within a few days of
living there.
The daughter says
that she sees a little
girl named Jody, who
happened to be the
sister that was killed
in the house
Then the dad
starts hearing voic-
es and seeing
demons.
The rest of the
movie is just as good
as this sounds, so go
see it if you're look-
ing for a scary movie
that will keep sur-
prising you.
You can see it at the
Carmike Center 10
theaters in Sikes
Senter Mall.
'House of Wax' trips up friends
Jennifer Barker
News Editor
The "House Of
Wax" is a horror film
about six friends who
take a road trip to
watch a football
game, but instead
end up in a aban-
doned small town
that is made of noth-
ing but wax.
The only people
that live there are
three brothers who
lead people into the
town and kill them to
make them into their
art of wax people.
"The House Of
Wax" stars Elisha
Cuthbert who plays
Carly Jones, the main
character; Chad
Michael Murray who
plays Carly's
twin brother
Nick Jones, who
also is a main
character; Jared
Padelecki who
plays Wade, Carly's
boyfriend; Paris
Hilton who plays
Paige Edwards,
Carly's friend; and
Robert Richard who
plays Blake, Paige's
boyfriend.
Paris Hilton isn't
much of an actress.
She should just stick
to her reality show
"The Simple Life"
because the only act-
ing she is good at is
just playing herself.
As for Elisha
Cuthbert and Chad
Michael Murray, they
were outstanding
and great in this hor-
ror film "The House
Of Wax."
The "House Of
Wax" is rated R for
horror violence, some-
sexual content and
language.
'Eragon' novel takes fantastic flight
Mikal Musick
Opinions Editor
With his first novel
"Eragon," which was
published in 2000
and is the first of the
"Inheritance" trilogy,
Christopher Paulini
makes magic and
fantasy come to life
in a way that should
and will be pleasing
to all.
The story takes
place in far land
called Aleglaysia,
where many kinds
of civilizations most-
ly live together or
separately.
The story starts out
in an eerie forest
where a group of
"bandits" wait
for their ambush.
"Three white horses
with riders cantered
toward the ambush,
their heads held high
and proud, their
coats rippling in the
moonlight like liquid
silver"- excerpt from
"Prologue: Shade of
Fear."
The intensity and
descriptive writing
just escalates even
furthur as a young
boy named Eragon
discovers a rather
peculiar stone that
ultimately starts
him on his way to
his destiny and
causes him to loses
some dear freinds as
well.
I have nothing but
praises for Paulini
and his new series
"The Inheritance
Trilogy." This book is
a must read for ages
10 and up.
Sequel to book one
of "The Inheritance
Trilogy" will be pub-
lished in August of
this year.

Mosh tour offers cool bands
Rachael Arbuckle
Features Editor
It's only 5 o'clock
and there is about 100
kids lined up at the
door to see the show.
Doors don't even
open until 6:30, but
they definitely didn't
want to miss out on
this one!
The Minions
of the Mosh
tour passed
through
Wichita Falls
April 29.
The line up
for the bands were
Wintersolstice,
All that Remains,
Throwdown and the
amazing As I Lay
Dying. Let me tell
you, that show was
seriously intense!
Teenagers from
all around including
Mineral Wells,
Austin, and I even
met a girl who came
from Arizona!
The Brickhouse of
Wichita Falls has
been preparing the
place for this show.
They built a stage,
got lighting systems,
and a very awesome
sound system. I'm
sure it wasn't cheap
but I totally think it
was worth it.
Wintersolstice, first
on stage, was incredi-
ble. They got the
crowd going but not
ending. Second
up was All That
Remains and
many kids from
different areas
were really glad
to see them. I thought
they were pretty
good.
Throwdown played
after them and let me
tell you, they were
astonishing. They
started the moshes
and even a guy had
to go the hospital
because his eye got
busted open!
After they
played the lights
dimmed, everyone
got quiet. Screams,
loud - crazy guitar
riffs started to play,
and the greatest band
of the night took
stage.
The crowed
totally went wild. I
caught myself some-
times not being able
to stand up!
I was on the
very front row, and
with the stage only
being one foot tall,
everyone trampled
me, but I managed
the battle.
As I Lay
Dying played my
favorite song,
Forever. As they
started to play I
wanted to cry! This
was so intense.
I think that
was the best show in
Wichita Falls ever! If
you like that kind of
music or you like
those bands, check
out where they are
playing because you
wouldn't want to
miss them, at least I
wouldn't.
Cage fans find 'Treasure' in video
Whitney Sneed
Sports Editor
In "National
Treasure" Benjamin
Franklin Gates
(Nicholas Cage) is
hunting for a treasure
no one else believes
exists.
Gates has been all
around the world
looking for clues and
searching for the
treasure.
He has to stay one
step ahead of the per-
son who is trying to
get the treasure
before him (Sean
Bean), find the rest of
the clues and unlock
a 2000-year-old mys-
tery.
One major clue is
the piece missing
off tire triangle on
the back of the $1
bill, the all-seeing
eye.
Ben figures out
that on the back
of the Declaration
of Independence is
the clue to finding
the treasure.
The whole point of
this movie is to figure
out why the triangle
is not completed.
The cast of
"National Treasure"
includes Cage, Diane
Kruger, Harvey
Keiel, Justin Bartha
and Sean
Bean.
If you like to
think a lot and
are a big
Nicholas
Cage fan, then
you should
rent "National
Treasure."
"National Treasure"
is now available in
stores on video or
DVD.
Latest album by 3 Doors Down,
'Seventeen Days/ demands attention
Dustin Bishop
Opinions Editor
The Rock band 3
Doors Down has
produced four
great albums since
they began as artists
in 2000. Their first
album, "The Better
Life," had four No. 1
singles on it.
"Kryptonite,"
"Duck and Run,"
"Loser" and "Be like
That" were the No. 1
hit singles on that
album. Their album
"Away From The
Sun" was another
example of how great
the music stylings of
3 Doors Down Really
is with two more hit
singles "When I'm
Gone" and "Here
Without You" on
their second album.
"Seventeen
Days," the - new
album by 3 Doors
Down, is going to be
just as big if not big-
ger than "The
Better Life" or "Away
From The Sun" com-
bined. Bob Seager
featured in one of the
best songs on the CD
"Landing In
London."
The song "Landing
in London" is a road
weary song about
being away from the
one you love while
on the road.
The album also has
other great songs on
it like "Right where I
belong," It's not me,"
Let me go," Behind
those eyes," Father's
son," My world" and
"Here by me." This
album was fantas-
ticly produced and is
demanding attention
in music stores
around the world.
If you are in the
mood to buy a new
CD and are wonder-
ing what to purchase,
strongly consider
"Seventeen Days," 3
Doors Down's latest
release.
