Five students ad-
vanced to regionals in
Abilene on April 29-30:
senior Matt Ridenour,
junior Chelsea
Lindeman, junior Brit-
tany Martinez, sopho-
more Meagan Ayers
and freshman Eliza-
beth Springer.
"As a freshman,
going to regionals was
very exciting; I was
stoked. I couldn't be-
lieve that I actually
made it that far,"
Springer said. "It was
a memorable experi-
ence.
Before the five ath-
letes' regional meet,
they competed in the
area meet in Chico.
Ridenour jumped a
height of 6 feet in the
high jump and finished
second.
The girls' 1600-
meter relay broke their
by five seconds and fin-
ished second place.
The four girls ran a
time of 4 minutes and
15.16 seconds.
In the varsity girls'
district meet in Alvord,
the 1600-meter relay
team finished third
with a time of 4:20.76.
In the varsity boys'
district meet, Ridenour
placed second with a
height of 6 feet.
The varsity boys'
800-meter relay team of
Matthew Sherrill,
Cody Ashton and
Latigo Hill ran a time of
1:39.35..and came in
sixth.
In the junior varsity
boys' district meet,
sophomore Charlie

Fletcher placed second
with a time of 48.76 sec-
onds.
In the 100-meter
run sophomore Dixon
Stovall finished sixth
with a time of 12.74 sec-
onds.
Two athletes
placed in the 110-meter
hurdles: sophomore
Weldon Stallcup came
in second with a time of
19.17 seconds, and
sophomore Brett
Oliver finished third
with a time of 22.28 sec-
onds.
In the junior varsity
boys' 800-meter relay,

Thompson, Jason
Stewart and Ryan
Fletcher received fifth
with a time of 1:43.68.
In the 300 hurdles
Stallcup placed second
with a time of 46.82 sec-
onds, and Oliver fin-
ished sixth with a time
of 56.29 seconds.
In the 200-meter
run freshman Jason
Stewart finished with
the time of 25.23 sec-
onds and fourth place.
In the 1600-meter
run Skelton won first
place with the time of
5:29:01.

The sports banquet was held
May 9 in the cafeteria.
Amanda Cox received the
Marlon Meader Scholarship.
In football the Offensive Player
of the Year went to Mark Wuthrich.
Defensive Player of the Year was
awarded to Corey Heineken. The
Fighting Heart Award went to
John Mullins. Zane West received
the Lineman award.
In boys' basketball Offensive
Most Valuable Player was awarded
to Caleb Hopkins. Defensive Most
Valuable Player went to Landon
Rowe. The Fighting Heart Award
was given to Shay Campbell.
Charlie Smith received Most Im-
proved.
In baseball the Team Most Valu-
able Player was awarded to Ty
Robertson. Offensive Most Valuable
Player went to Caleb Truette. De-
fensive Most Valuable Player went
to Blaine Willett. John Mullins was
honored with the "Wildcat" Award.
For softball Micah Stonesifer re-
ceived Team Most Valuable Player.
The Offensive Player of the Year
went to Amanda Cox. The Defen-
sive Player of the Year was awarded
to Jamie Stults. Taylor Cavitt re-
ceived the Hustle Award. The
Leadership Award went to Megan
Hubbard.
"Being a freshman made it a
great accomplishment getting Most
Valuable Player, but being on a
good team was MVP enough for
me," freshman Micah Stonesifer
said.

For girls' basketball Taylor
Cavitt received the Offensive Player
of the Year. Defensive Player of the
Year went to Lacey Reneau and Brit-
tany Martinez. The Fighting Heart
Award was received by Andrea
Springer. Most Improved went to
Lacey Reneau.
In tennis Candace Huffman was
honored with the female Player of
the Year. Most Improved went to
Blake Thomason. Erica Goforth re-
ceived the Leadership Award. The
Hustle Award went to Andrea
Springer.
For golf Trey Oswald received
the male Player of the Year. The fe-
male Player of the Year was
awarded to Sadie Snow.
For volleyball Marissa Ayers re-
ceived the Hitter's Award. The
Digger's Award went to Megan
Hubbard. The Heart Award was
given to Andrea Springer.
"I was really excited when I got
the Digger's Award," sophomore
Megan Hubbard said."It makes me
want to work hard again next year
so I can try to get it again."
For track Matt Ridenour re-
ceived the Male Player of the Year.
Female Player of the Year was given
to Brittany Martinez, Elizabeth
Springer, Chelsea Lindeman,
Meagan Ayers and Jolynn Easter.
For cross country the Female
Player of the Year went to Jennifer
Shaffer.
All door prizes were donated by
the coaching staff, Comanche
Moon, Oodles, Haigood &
Campbell, Smith's Gardentown,
and Greg and Sonja Oliver. The
meal was catered by Branding Iron.
Huffman places 2nd at district

Huffman advanced to
regional competition in
tennis after placing sec-
ond in the varsity dis-
trict meet for singles
April 12-13.
"I was really ex-
cited that I advanced to
regionals because it
was my senior year. It
was a good experi-
ence," Huffman said.

Goforth placed third in
doubles at the varsity
district meet.
Freshman Aaron
Harrelson played
singles and placed
third in the junior var-
sity district meet.
"This year has been
fun for me," freshman
Blake Thomason said.

Lourisa Gary played
doubles and placed
third in the the JV dis-
trict meet.
Juniors Jessica
Reynolds and Erin
Graves played doubles
and placed second in
the JV district meet.
"It's been a great
experience this year,
and I have really en-
joyed it with these ath-
letes," Coach Veronica
Harvey said about her
first year to coach.
