Contestants Prepare Entries
For Junior Livestock Show
The Archer County Junior
Livestock Show will begin
Wednesday, November 7, at
the livestock' ’ barn. The
Archer City FFA is prepar-
ing for the show by build-
ing a 30-foot extension
on the south end of the
steer barn to accomodate
the increasing number of
livestock entries.
FFA members are keeping
busy by working with their
projects and preparing them
for the show. This year
Archer City FFA members
have entered in the show
17 steers, 1 sow, 9 bar-
rows, I4 lanibs, 5 pens of
chickens.
The 1973 show having
more entries than ever be-
fore, promises to be the
best yet.
The Food Show Division
will be November 9 and 10.
Girls entering will be out
of school the 9th to pre-
pare their food. Each ex-

The ACKS Wildcat band
will be judged Wednesday,
November 7*in the UE mar-
ching contest at Memorial
Stadium in Wichita Falls.
Represented in the con-
test will be approximately
31 schools from the nor-
thern half of Region II of
the UIL Interschol astic
League. Each school per-
forms in its own class from
LiA to class C,junior high.
Other bands - ent e r in g
with ACKS will be Crowell,
Knox City, Munday,Paducah,
and Holliday.

clothing entry and one food
entry per group. An exhi-
bitor could, therefore,
have a total of six food,
entries and this would in-
clude, one cake, one pie,
one dozen cookies, one
yeast bread, one quick
bread, and one dozen can-
dies.
Judging begins at b.:00
p, in., Friday, November 9.
Judging will be classified
as 90-100,blue ribbonj 80-
89, red ribbon^70-79,white
ribbonj below 70, entry
ribbon. Everyone will re-
ceive a ribbon,

New Scholars
Twelve new students were
inducted into National Hon-
or Society,Wednesday, Oct-
ober 17,in a candle-light-
ing ceremony. This was a
larger number than usual.
Inducted were: Scott
Groves, Debbie Ab shier,
Dorothy Schlabs,Laura Gels,
Claudia Morris on, P e gg y
Petit, Bill Jentsch, Danny
Hopkins, Julie Morris,
Leslie Knox, Loretta Cox,
and Sherri Patton,

Cathey,'Randy Skinner, Lea
Hornady, Cheryl Martin
Diane Abshier, Leah Luig,
Cecelia Oven, Craig Lof-
tin, Mark Adams, and James
Ash,
Members of NHS are re-
quired to make a 90 or a-
bove grade average. Mrs,
Fall is sponsor of the
group.

.Chosen By Foculty
Randy Skinner, senior,
has been chosen Citizen- of
the Month for September,
Each month a committee of
three teachers nominates
three or four students,
and all teachers then vote
on these nominees.
Randy is very active in
school life, this year be-
ing student council rep-
resentative for the senior
class and an active member
of the football team. Ran-
dy was chosen student coun-
cil vice-president last
year. He also attended
B oy! s State during the
summer, Randy goes to
technical-vocational .school
during the morning classes
here at ACHS, He is als»
a member #f the National
Honrr Society,
Cathey Receives
Commending!, etter
Lee Cathey, senior, has
received a letter of com-
mendation honoring him f»r
his high performance on the
1972 PSAT/NMSQT. He is a-
mong 37*000 other commen-
ded students in the United
States and is in the upper
two percent of those who
are expected to graduate
from high school in 197U*
He has participated in
