Archer City, Texas
Trock Team To Compete At
District Meet Saturday -
The track team has been to
several track meets this season
and is about to finish the sea-
son with the District Meet, Sat^
urday.
The team went to the Possum
Kingdom Relays in Graham, but
none of the members placed in the
finals.
At the Iowa Park meet Gowdy
Slack placed second in the high
hurdles, and third in the low
hurdles.
Five of the boys went to
Irving on Friday, March 29, and
spent the night and came back
Saturday afternoon. No one
placed in any events.
At Holliday Saturday, April I4,
Guy Strickland tied for first
place in the pole vault. Gowdy
Slack placed third in high
hurdles. Gowdy and Virgil Du-
gan tied for third in the high
jump. The team will go to Mid-
western Saturday for the District
meet.

tainly be applied to quite a few
Archer City High School girls.
Since the beginning of 1959,
two more girls, Myrna Burks and
Missy Thurlkill have married.
And soon to be married are Toni
Scarbrough, April 18, and Amy
Lewis, June lip.
We wish a lifetime of happi-
ness to all these girls.

On Friday, March 20, girls
from the first, second, and
third year Home Making classes
gave a style show for the Ammity
Club.

On March 25 the Interscholas-
tic League One Act Play contest
was held at Midwestern Univer-
sity. The director of the speech
department at Midwestern, Dr.
Hyman, was the judge. She rated
A. C. H. S.*s play, ’’Dark Star”
third.
The cast included Judge Car-
rington, Pat Lasater; Dora Car-
ington, Sharon Thurber; I Peggy
Carrington, Janis Harvey; Helen
Carrington, Lcann Kirkland;
Bessie, Missy Carton; Hilda, Rsn-
ette Wood; Joe, Butch Adams.
The English Department has
adopted new literature textbooks
to be used for the next few
years.
The choice as made from four
series written for grades 7-12.
The Adventure Series, Published
by Harcourt, Brace and Company,
was adopted. The committee
chose this series because of the
treatment of new and Interesting
material, the inclusive glossary,
and the adequate vocabulary aids.
The textbook ^ committee was
composed of Mrs. Crowley, Mrs.
Mullis, and Mrs. Trent.
