W Wright of Tyler Indicted By
Cherokee County Jury
Rusk Texas Jan 20 The first ac
tion under the nepotism law passed
by the Thirtieth legislature was taken
today when the Cherokee county
grand jury returned an indictment
against J W Wrighf former financial
agent of the state penitentiaries
charging him with nepotism
The offense of nepotism is a misde-
meanor and is punishable by a fine of
not less than 100 nor more than 1
000 and forfeiture of office
Mr Wright resigned his office on
December 17 to take effect at once
He was in Tyler today and no state-
ment could be secured from him here
Wright Says Spite Work

was seen tonight at 10 oclock by a
Galveston News representative in re-
gard to the indictment returned
against him at Rusk charging nepo-
tism and was asked if he desired to
make a statement in the matter He
said that there was nothing in the
case except spite work on the part of
certain parties at Rusk
