Jamie Max Goad
Jamie Max Goad was born in
Hollis, Okla., on May 1, 1921,
to E.N. and Fawn Lois Upton
Goad, and passed away in Con-
roe, Texas, on March 1,2013, at
the age of 91.
After graduating high school
he worked for the FBI prior to
joining the Navy. He was an
education administrator for
numerous public schools in
North Texas.
He served in the Lubbock and
Wichita Falls areas. He was the
director of education intheTra-
vis State School in Austin, and
served 11 years with M.H.M.R.
He was very proud of serving
his country in the U.S. Navy for
three years, seven months, and
20 days.
He is survived by his loving
wife of 64 years, Juanita Goad
of Conroe, Texas; by his son,
Dr. Jamie Dale Goad and his
wife, Cherri, of Carrizozo, N.M.;
by his daughter, Debra Pruter
and her husband, Fred, of Con-
roe, Texas; by his son-in-law,
Rick Burkhart of Oklahoma; by
his two sisters, Marie Gee and
Marjorie Byrd of Oklahoma;
by his sister-in-law, Myrna Rae
Albright and husband Richard
of Oklahoma; by his grand-
children: JJ. Hall, Briton Goad,
Adrian Goad, Juanita Marie
Springmeyer and Shirlena
Springmeyer; by his great-
grandchildren: Heather Hall,
Michael Hall, Mikayla Hardy,
Breanna Morris and Jerry
James; and numerous nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; his daughter, Char-
lotte Burkhart; two brothers,
Dan Goad and Jack Goad; and
by his sister, Jeanette Cain.
A memorial sevice will be
held on Saturday, March 9,
2013, at 2 p.m.atthe Longmire
Road Church of Christ with Mr.
John Helbig as officiant.
In lieu of flowers the fam-
ily wishes for donations to be
made to one of the following

Robert M. Harmel
Robert M. Harmel died Feb.
27, 2013, at Seven Oaks Nurs-
ing Home in Olney. Graveside
services were held Friday,
March 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at
the Megargel, Texas, Cemetery
under the direction of Lunn Fu-
neral Home of Olney, Texas. Da-
vid Carpenter, Minister of Cum-
berland Presbyterian Church
in Olney, officiated, assisted by
Dan Winningham.
On Oct. 8, 1915, Robert was
born in Megargel, Texas. He
and Norma Richards were mar-
ried Oct. 6, 1935, in Megar-
gel, where they made their
home until moving to Olney
in 1971. Robert was a farmer
and rancher all of his adult life
and remained active into his
mid-90s and beyond by "mak-
ing his rounds"to check on the
cattle, wheat, grass, stock tanks
and how much it had rained.
He loved and was an excellent
steward of the family's land.
Robert was preceded in
death by his wife, Norma Rich-
ards Harmel, who left this life
Sept. 20, 1991; and his oldest
daughter, Brenda "Sis"Shawver,
who left this life Aug. 10, 2011.
He is survived by his young-
est daughter, Jo Helen Wilson
and husband Nick; his son, Dr.
Bob Harmel and wife Dr. Sarah
Kramer Harmel; his grand-
daughter and Sis's daughter,
Joy Shawver Ball and husband
David; and his grandson and
Sis's son, Carey Shawver and
wife, Sue. He is also survived by
his granddaughter, Elizabeth
Wilson Parker and husband Dr.
George Parker; his grandsons
Dr. Daren Harmel and wife,
Karo my; and Jeremy Harmel
and wife, Cori; his great-grand-
children, Lily Parker, Abby
Parker, Sloan Harmel, Ban-
nock Harmel, Landry Harmel,
Sydney Harmel, Jonathan Ball,
Robby Shawver and wife Ja-
mie, Katy Shawver Wilde and
husband Michael, Jill Shawver
and fiance Chance McCauley;
and his great-great-grandchil-

Donald Myrick, age 84, died
Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in Ol-
ney, Texas. Funeral services
were held at 2 p.m. Monday,
March 4, 2013, at the chapel of
Lunn Funeral Home with Bodie
Beaman officiating. Burial fol-
lowed in Restland Cemetery
in Olney. Arrangements were
under the direction of Lunn Fu-
neral Home of Olney.
Donald was born on Jan. 28,
1929, to the late Amos and Lot-
tie Lee (Tye) Myrick in Rising
Star, Texas. He and Mary Lois
Watson were married on Feb. 1,
1978, in Oklahoma.
Donald had worked with a
gas company until his retire-
ment. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge and Church
Street Church of Christ. Donald
served in the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; a son, Jerry Myrick;
and his grandson, Kevin Myrick.
Survivors include his wife,
Mary Myrick of Olney, Texas;
sisters: Jane Carter and hus-
band Jerry of Eastland, Texas,
and Marianne Walker and hus-
band Vernon of North Carolina;
Thanks, everyone, for the
prayers and loving support
during Dub’s illness and
passing. A special thanks
to the nurses at Hamilton
Hospital, Dr. Mankins’ lov-
ing care he gave Dub, Bro.
