Obituaries
Bobby Wayne Bruton
Bobby Wayne Bruton, age
85, died Wednesday, April 30,
2014, in Decatur, Texas. Grave-
side services with military
honors were held at 12 noon
on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at
the Jean Cemetery in Jean,
Texas, with Scotte Clark, of Ol-
ney, officiating. Arrangements
were are under the direction
of Lunn Funeral Home of Ol-
ney.
Bobby was born on June 26,
1928, in Henrietta, Texas, to
the late R.L. Bruton and Katie
(Norvell) Bruton. He and sever-
al classmates purposely failed
their senior test assuring that
they could play one more year
of football and graduate in
1947.
Bobby served in the Korean
War as a Hospital Corpsman
3rd Class. On Aug. 21, 1954,
he married Patsy Thornburg in
Waurika, Okla. She preceded
him in death on July 12, 1989.
He was an oilfield pipeline
worker. He moved from Jean
to Decatur in 2009, and he was
a member of the Church of
Christ. Bobby was preceded in
death by his parents, wife and
one sister, Opal Kidd.
Survivors include his son,
Rodney Bruton and wife Fran-
ces of Decatur, Texas; daugh-
ters Pamela Bruton of Tampa,
Fla., and Sheila Creekmore of
Van, Texas; 10 grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gary Gandy
Gary Gandy of Shamrock died
Monday, April 28, 2014, in Dal-
las, Texas, with his family by his
side.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at
Calvary Christian Fellowship in
Shamrock with the Rev. Joe G.
Jernigan and Russell Shaw of-
ficiating. Interment followed in
Shamrock Cemetery in Sham-
rock. Arrangements were un-
der the direction of Robertson
Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Born Dec. 15, 1934, to Ray-
mond and Doris Gandy in Dal-
las, Texas, he was raised in Ol-
, where he graduated from
ey High School. Gary was
a veteran of the U.S. Army and
followed his father's footsteps
into the oil and gas industry.
He married Ida Marie Corfield
in Farmington, N.M., on Nov.
23, 1960, and they spent over
53 years together. Gary went
on to receive a petroleum en-
gineering degree in 1970 while
helping to raise his three chil-
dren. He worked for El Paso
Natural Gas and Exploration
Co. for over 30 years where he
later became manager over op-
erations.
He was also involved in off
shore drilling operations, wrote
articles for petroleum publica-
tions and owned and operated
his own companies.
When he was a young man,
he was involved with the fam-
ily in horse racing, Rodeo
Cowboys Association and a
founding member of The Tur-
tle Rodeo Association, all of
which later became the PRCA.
He was passionate about hunt-
and his Circle G Ranch. He
founded the Shamrock
Championship Dove Hunt in
1973, which is currently run by
his family. The proceeds from
this hunt are donated to the lo-
cal youth charities in Wheeler
County. Gary served as chair-
man for the St. Patrick's Day
celebration, served on the City
Council and was past president

of the Shamrock Country Club.
Gary was preceeded in death
by his parents, Pinkney Ray-
mond and Doris Geneva Gan-
dy, and many uncles and aunts.
Survivors include his wife,
Ida Gandy of Shamrock; one
daughter, GayLynn Otts and
husband, Kenny, of Pakan
Community; two sons, Brent
Gandy and wife, Jennifer, of
Amarillo, and Troy Gandy and
wife, Toni, of Crystal River, Fla.;
three brothers, Larry, Jerry and
Mickey Gandy; eight grandchil-
dren and two great-grandchil-
dren.
Beneath his gruff exterior, he
truly had a heart of gold, buy-
ing meals and helping those in
need and giving rides to hitch-
hikers.
Pop, as a family we will never
forget your generosity, your
lessons of life to always do the
rightthing and we will love and
miss you forever.

OISD trustees hire
two new instructors
A brief, special meeting
of the Olney ISD Board of
Trustees at 12:30 p.m. Mon-
day, May 5, resulted in the
extension of contracts to
two new OHS educators.
Trustees Jamie Kulhanek,
Kelly Mahler, Len Bern-
hardt, Chance Fite, Jeff
Harvey, Kyle Hinson and
David Ickert were in atten-
dance.
OHS Principal Steve
Fleming recommended
that the board extend con-
tracts to Sabrina Laurent as
high school science teach-
er and Hay lee Haralson as
the secondary ag science
teacher. Both recommen-
dations were unanimously
approved.
Series of jamborees
scheduled at Loving
Loving Jamborees have
been planned for the com-
ing months. All events
start at 6 p.m. at the Lov-
ing Community Center and
feature potluck meals. Cost
is $2 and door prizes are
furnished. Events will be
held on Saturday, May 10,
June 14 and July 12.
Frank Edward Hinson
Funeral services for Frank
Edward Hinson, age 77, were
held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday
May 7, 2014, at St. Luke Lu-
theran Church in Olney, Texas,
with Rev. Sean Reeves, pastor,
officiating. Interment followed
at the St. Luke Lutheran Cem-
etery in Olney. Arrangements
were under the direction of
Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Frank was born Nov. 11,
1936, in Salem, Young County,
Texas, to Sam Millard and Ida
Mae Hinson. He attended el-
ementary schools in Graham,
Texas, and then attended and
graduated from Olney High
School in 1955.
Frank played football and ran
track while in high school and
went to state competition in
1954 for Olney in the 400 relay
and the mile relay. He married
Delores Polster of Megargel on
Aug. 17,1957, in Olney, Texas.
Frank worked in the oilfields
in this area, working in Archer
where he met his future
Delores, an Archer City
Bank employee.
The oil field work took them
to Kermit, Texas, and later to
Odessa, Texas, where Frank
became a lab technologist.
He worked at the hospital in
Odessa for several years then
moved to Olney, Texas, and
continued in that field of work
at Hamilton Hospital for over
25 years. He worked for ap-
proximately 10 years at Olney
Savings and Loan Association
as the supply clerk for all their
branches.
During all this time he also
enjoyed his favorite hobby of
farming and ranching.This was
at the farm just outside Olney,
and also at the Polster family
farm just north of Megargel.
Frank also loved working with
wood, making many beautiful
pieces offurnitureforthefam-
ily.
Frank was a loving husband,
father, grandfather and great-
grandfather and enjoyed fam-
ily time at any opportunity
that arose. He loved kids and
sports. Frank coached Little
League Baseball.
He was an avid sports fan
and followed football when
sons Alan and Kyle played.
Frank continued all through
the years watching his grand-
children in all their sporting
events. He attended all their
basketball, baseball, softball
and football games. He even
attended basketball games
this past season, even though
it was physically hard for him.
After 18 years of pain and
suffering, Grandpa made it
to heaven on Monday, May 5,
2014, where he no longer will
be in pain. Tractor Grandpa
was a very stubborn-headed
man, but had a BIG heart. Our
family get-togethers will not
be the same, but we will smile
because he is dancing in heav-
en with Jesus.
Frank was a member of St.
Luke Lutheran Church in Ol-
ney, Texas, where he served
as an elder. He is preceded in
death by his parents, Ida Mae
(Ratcliffe) and Sam Millard
Hinson; and his brothers and
sisters: Mildred Viola Hinson
Gilmore, Dora Adell Hinson
Jackson, Ollie Mae Hinson,
Mary Pauline Hinson Gilmore,
Maudie Lometa Hinson King,
Sam Millard Hinson Jr., Ona
Faye Hinson Goree and Ralph
Dale Hinson.
He is survived by his wife,
Delores Hinson; two sons:
Alan Blaine Hinson and wife,
Donna, and Kyle Richard Hin-
son and wife, Julie, all of Ol-
ney; one brother, Leonard Lee
Hinson of Odessa, Texas; and a
sister, Bessie Lorene Hinson Ai-
nsworth of Bryson, Texas; five
grandchildren: Steven Hin-
son and wife, Erin, Stacie Hin-
