Pilgrimage
Catholics from all over the
diocese traveled to St. Francis
de Paula Church in San Diego
Oct. 22 for a pilgrimage
celebrating the Holy Year of
Redemption. St, Francis is one
of the 19 parishes in the diocese
designated by Bishop Thomas
Drury last spring as churches at
which Catholics may gain
special indulgences during the
jubilee year, decreed by Pope
John Paul II.
All Catholic organizations in
the diocese were invited to
make the pilgrimage, said
Father Epifanio Rodriquez,
O.P., pastor of St, Francis.
Five area priests heard confes-
sions prior to the pilgrimage,
which was followed by adora-
tion of the Blessed Sacrament
and a procession around the
plaza in front of the church.
