The 4th Annual Help the Deaf Golf
Tournament will be held at the Alice
Municipal Golf Course on Sunday,
March 27, $2,000 in prizes will be given
away. The event is being sponsored by
Knights of Columbus Council 3169. For
more information, contact the pro shop
at 664-7033 or Arturo Moreno at
664-2273. All profits wilT go to the K of
C State Deaf program
St. Joseph Junior High Spring Car-
nival will be held March 27 at Magic
Isles in Flour Bluff. St. Joseph students
are selling advance tickets for $6. This
entitles the holder to ride an unlimited
number of rides during the day.
St. Peter’s parish in Annaville will
hold its annual Spring Raaaar on Sun
day, March 27, from 11 a.m. until 6
p.m. A family style beef barbecue din-
ner will be served from 11 a m. until
2:30. Plates are $4.

A native of Oklahoma, Sister
Young entered the congrega-
tion in 1921 She served for 18
years as Treasurer General and
for 12 years as a Councilor.
Sister Young has taught at In-
carnate W'ord, the Cathedral
School, St. Theresa’s, St
Patrick’s, Sacred Heart, and
St. Pius X in Corpus Chrisii.
She also laught at St.
Anthony’s in Robstown, Our
Lady of Consolation in Vatt-
man, and Sacred Heart in
Rockport
Sister Mary Brenda Thomp-
son was born in Dublin,
Ireland She entered as a
postulant in 1956 Sister
Thompson received a bachelor
of arts degree from Sr
Edward’s University and a
master’s degree in counseling
from Our Lady of the Lake
University. She has served as
principal of Incarnate Word
Elementary and for the past 14
years has been career counselor
at Incarnate Word Academy.

March 13 in Benavides. Courts
from Alice, San Diego,
Kingsville, Falfurrias, Freer,
and Benavides were
represented at the event. A
workshop on the duties of of-
ficers was presented by
Margaret Cutbirth, 2nd State
Vice Regent from Crosby,
Texas.
Special guests attending the
meeting were National Regent
Loretta Kncbel from El Cam-
po, State Regent Eleanor
Treanor from Houston, and
State Education Chairman
Marie Walsh from Corpus
Christi.

new members.” stated Isaura
Oliveira, Benavides Regent.
