Rummage sale
The Catholic Daughters of America Court #2277
is sponsoring a rummage sale at Holy Family
Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St., on Saturday,
June 24 from 8 to 5 p.m. For more information

Exchange homes needed
The American Scandinavian Student Exchange
(ASSE, Int’l) program is in need of host families for
European Exchange Students due to arrive in August
of this year. Any family is eligible to host regardless
of age or the number of children in the family.
The ASSE program is a non-profit organization.
Families interested in hosting an exchange student

Veterans conference
The U.S, Small Business Administration Office of
Veterans Affairs is sponsoring an "Opportunities for
Veterans” conference Thursday, June 29, at 2 p.m.
at the Wyndham Hotel, 900 N. Shoreline Blvd. This
event is designed to introduce veterans to the wide
range of opportunities, benefits and entitlements
available to those who have served their country in
the armed forces, their families and dependents.
Spohn offers free clinic
Spohn Hospital's Home Health & Hospice pro-
gram on June 1 began offering free blood pressure
screenings Mondays through Fridays, 9-11 a,m., at
the Home Health Office, 1300 Third Street.
All those screened will be given information on
how to control high blood pressure and referred to a
physician if necessary.
Feast of St. Anthony Mass
The Secular Franciscans will celebrate in a special
way the feast of St. Anthony with Mass on June 13 at
Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church at 7 p.m. The tradi-
tion of the Blessing of the St. Anthony Bread will take
place and those attending will be given a mini-loaf of
bread to take home and share with their families. A
Franciscan meal will follow after Mass. Everyone is
welcome.
Day care openings
Bethune Day Care, a United Way Agency located

children ages 18 months thru 5 years. First come,
first serve, sliding fee scale according to Income. Call

The coastal bend chapter of Alzheimer’s Disease
and Related Disorders Association announces the

Charismatic leaders meeting
A meeting of leaders of diocesan charismatic
groups will be held Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in the
rectory of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5830
Williams-Dr., Corpus Christi. The meeting will con-
sist of prayer and instruction and all interested par-

Richard Hill, (above), was named Spohn
Hospital’s Employee of the Year during an an-
nual service awards banquet on May 9. Hill, a
native of Nebraska, began working at Spohn
immediately upon moving to Corpus Christi
three years ago. For the Employee of the Year
honor, he was cited not only for his en-
thusiasm as a receiving supervisor, but for his
dedication to the Corpus Christi community
by serving as Spohn’s co-chairman for the an-
nual Operation Paintbrush.
Summer classes
In an effort so reach participants who ex-
perience difficulty in attending classes during the
long term, the Pastoral Institute will offer courses
this summer both in Corpus Christi and Laredo.
Spiritual Formation I is scheduled from June
12-27 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish, Corpus
Christi, from 2-4 p.m.
Spiritual Formation II is scheduled from
August 1-16 at the Pastoral Center, Corpus
Christi, from 2-4 p.m.
Introduction to the New Testament is scheduled
from June 13-29 at the Pastoral Center, Laredo,
from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Spiritual Formation I is scheduled from May
31-Junc 16 at the Pastoral Gcnter, Laredo, from
2-4 p.m.
Spiritual Formation II is scheduled from June
19-30, July 5-6 at the Pastoral Center, Laredo,
from 2-4 p.m.
