Operation Homefront overwhelmed by
requests for help from military families
Operation Homefront an-
nounced that it has been over-
whelmed by requests for emer-
gency assistance by military
families, and the nonprofit orga-
nization is requesting immediate
donations from the local com-
munity to help address the need.
"We need everything from cash
to help pay utility bills to grocer-
ies to businesses who can donate
auto and household repair ser-
vices," said Gina Griffiths, Okla-
homa Chapter President. "Even
if you can only donate one time,
we're very grateful. Heaven
knows these military families are
stressed out by the sacrifices they
have made and they deserve our
help in return."
Operation Homefront manages
a wide variety of crises experi-
enced by military families, espe-
cially when the service member
is deployed. Most recently, Op-
eration Homefront - Oklahoma
assisted several military fami-
lies with food assistance, mort-
gage assistance and utility bills
as well as assistance with Christ-
mas.

Griffiths at 864-497-1443.
What is today Operation
Homefront began in 2001 as a
military spouse-generated idea.
In response to the need for sup-
port for the families of deployed
service members,
CinCHouse.com members (mili-
tary wives and women in uni-
form) created the project that
has evolved into a major non-
profit charity serving 34 military
communities. Today
CinCHouse.com operates as a
program of the nonprofit Opera-
tion Homefront family. From a
good idea to a great organiza-
tion, Operation Homefront un-
derstands and takes care of the
needs of the military commu-
nity.

Students, parents and educators offered
opportunity to view Party 101: Consequences
In 2002, Texas had the dubi-
ous distinction of topping the list
in deaths to teens from alcohol
related motor vehicle accidents.
Nearly five times as many teens
died from alcohol as from all
other illicit drugs combined.
Among 7th and 8th graders,
drinking is thought to be safer
than smoking. Alarmingly, 25%
of high school seniors report hav-
ing driven a car while drunk.
On February 28, the Texas PTA
and the Independent Insurance
Agents of Texas (HAT) launched
a joint project that addresses the
problem of teen alcohol and drug
abuse. Party 101: Consequences
is the new documentary and
workshop series that is being of-
fered free to any group or family
in Texas as a presentation or for
viewing at home.
The North Texas Community
Council of PTAs and KFDX
TV3 are sponsoring a viewing on
April 3 at 7 p.m. in the Barwise
Junior High School Auditorium,
at 3807 Kemp Street in Wichita
Falls. The target audience for this
workshop is Junior High through
Senior High School students,
parents, teachers and administra-
tors. The workshop is designed
to wake families up to the real
dangers of alcohol consumption
among teens.
Continuing Professional Edu-
cation (CPE) credits are avail-
able for this program. The pre-
senter will have the completion
certificates available at the end
of the program.
Produced by Emmy-winning
Christopher Production, the
project helps teens, patents and
educators appreciate the negative
affects of underage drinking.
Massive in scope, the new
project aims to reach every teen
in Texas with its message of re-
sponsibility.
Any Texas will be able to re-
ceive a free copy of the new film
to view with their families. DVD
sponsor Tara Energy generously
pledged 25,000 DVDs to reach
families across the state. Coca-
Cola has also provided funding
to support this effort. Go to
www.txpta.org to get a copy to
view at home with your family.
US Senator Kay Bailey
Hutchison (R) provided prestige
to the project with her heartfelt
introduction, stating, “Texans
experience alarmingly high rates
of alcohol related deaths... Please
take the time to speak to our
young people about the dangers
of drinking under age.”
