"We can only pray for who ever did
this, because they need it. This will
only make us stronger and more
determined than ever to spread the
word" she said.
Rev. Woodard-James has been
up-beat and positive throughout this
trying time while others would be
seeking revenge, she’s showing
compassion and love for whoever
did these things.
Residents believe they know who
the vandals are, but declined to be
more specific until all the facts have
been presented to police.

Count Every Vote!!
Last week members of the San
Antonio black community joined
forces with various groups to voice
their opposition to the "Not Count-
ing Every Vote." Chuck Slaughter
on a moments notice assembled no
less than fifteen major groups from
around the city to assist with this
protest.
Ciro Rodriguez informed the
crowd of thousands of uncounted
votes, mis-counted votes and even
some ballots being taken home to be
counted.
Mario Salas showed his anger

I( was a cool brisk day this past
Wednesday when I visited Craig
Cates at Meadowlawn Memorial
Park. I saw J. C. Wisdom there,
visiting a loved one who had gone
home long ago. I started toward Cates'
office when I changed my mind and
decided to have a few words with
Mr. Wisdom.
"Hey, J. C.," I said, "How's the
world treating you? 1 asked.

clouds, he replied, "I am doing fine,
son, just remembering those days of
yester year that passed so long ago."
"Why so down," J. C.? "Don't tell
me another Bush in the White House
has gotten you troubled?"
"No, son. My first wife, who passed
some time ago, birthday was the
other day. I came to pay my respects.
Son, you see, life has many twists
and turns, ups and downs. As sure as
you are bom, adversity will come in
your life. It does not matter what
happens in your life, but how you
handle any situation. Sometimes, son,
success can go to your head. Many of
us, including me, when we have more
than a nickel in the bank, we tend to
forget our roots, old neighbors and
friends. When things are not going
so good, we run home for cover."
Always remember where you come
from son,” Wisdom added.
He gazed at the heavens for a mo-
ments, and uttered more food for
thought. "As a young man, I was

present to support their leader and
his views.
Ruth Jones McClendon battled
the rain of the morning to lend her
support to the gathering.
The NAACP and its president
folly supported the protest and was
instrumental in tis organizing.
Several passing motorist honked
their horns in support. A major
company's emergency vehicle as it
passed blared out on its loud speaker
"Gore sucks." Needless to say Mario
Salas was instantly on his cell phone
calling the company.

called on the Heavenly Father for a

"What did you do," I asked?. "Son,
