Like Cieorge Foreman said on
HBO at the Evander Holyfield-
Michael Motwer “robbery” last week,
"What lias boxing come to?"
C rooked judges, refs, and
promoterv. .they arc making some
of these big fights a joke, as they are
giving the decisions to the fighter
with die cash future such as rematches
ami the promoter with control of the
judges.
Having seen Larry Holmes gel
robbed of his crown several years
ago and only recently, the Whittaker
vs ( have/ robbery in San Antonio,
we were still shocked that the judges
could have the audacity to “give”
Moorer the crown after he got
knocked down with Holyfield not
even winning the round Moorer got
decked in???'?
Moorer used to l ight for Emanuel's
Kronk ( lub out of IX’lroit, and we
remember when he first showed up
as a cra/y nut in 10H8 as we were
training in Phoenix, Arizona. He
makes Mad Maxwell l<x>k likeachoir
boy, such are his antics when he gels
loose.
Just wait, he will be in the news
again as soon as he gets back on the
streets.
Since the Astros are selling food to
the media, we will send them a check
for $5.00 for that cold chicken they
tire serving up as their team is under
.500 :uid dropping....
I he draft last week won’t be of
any great help to the depleted Oilers,
as they won’ I get a passer like Warren
Moon or a defensive guy like Sean
Jones, not to mention the other first
line players they lost via free agency.
So fans, don’t get ready for one of
those long winning streaks we had
last year.
How can the Rockets beat the top
teams in the NBA when they fall to
Dallas and Denver, two also ran
teams....Prairie View could have beat
* si wfe
r
Dallas this year.
Seattle has the shooter. San Antonio
lias the NBA scoring champ, Portland
has ( lyde I Jrexler, and if we get past
die Western ( onterence, Adantaand/
or New York will be waiting. Scares
you when you think about an NBA
championship for the Rockets. “Wait
till next year,” and where have we
heard that before?
Hey man, I’m not asleep on the
ISl J coaching change, or was it
changes instead of change? As we
understand, they kept 90% of die
losers who are camped there for next
season. Sir BS was not the whole
problem, those historically losing
assistants were much the blame as
the big guy.....At least his BS was
entertaining, if nothing else positive
about his head coaching ability.
Looking forward to the SWAC
Track Meet, Dave, and we hope your
teams can win again. We had a talk
widi Magic Johnson right after the
light in Las Vegas last week....the
big guy says he still wants to play in
the NBA.. .he and his wife were the
biggest attraction, and it took four
policemen to get him through the
crowd.
Seeing David Robinson put in those
71 points made me think he just
might beat Akeem Olajuwon for the
MVP title. We saw Olajuwon on die
TV show, “The Rich and Famous”.
His condo and home looked clean
enough to be a hospital.... liveable?

Welcome Texas Dept, of Aging
The Way I See It
by Henrietta Griffin
“Help! We have fallen....we must
get up!” Sound familiar? Well, the
echoes transcend through this
present age, in all areas of our lives.
From infancy to childhood, to
puberty through teenage to young
adult to mid-life, on into the senior
years. The exclaim is, “we have
fallen, and we must....get up.”
Ihe world is before us, just isn’t
a local concern anymore. Just as
San Antonio lost a fine courageous
young man and young woman a
few days ago in a “friendly fire’, in
Iraq in the UN. in what supposedly
was a case of accident of mis-
identity, as sorrowful and
unfortunate wtis the case. America
suffered a great loss.
In our inevitable struggle to stop
gang violence and to get guns out
of the hands of our children and
those persons who arc making them
—
available to them as well, life
gallops off in all directions and
many of the roads we take are the
wrong ones.
But sooner or later, choices
*
become unavoidable, and one must
choose what path one will take.
Choices and challenges go hand
in hand. For whose who make the
wrong choice, life can be a
despondent, destructive, and a
destroyed experience.
That’s the way I see it!
