Claudia Williams ;uid the Voices of

Joiner, Kathy Taylor and the
Choralliers, and national recording
artist, Donald Malloy.
Malloy has been featured on the
recordings of John P. Kee, the late
Rev JamesCleveland.C ienobiaJeter,
Rev. Cleophus Robinson, and the
renowned Dorothy Norwood. He
was the featured soloist on the New
Jersey Mass Choir’s hit, “I Want to
Know What l.ove Is", and he sings,
'There is No I imit,” I’m Ready To
Serve the I .ord,” and “(. iod ( an ” I le
hasalso recorded with the Jel l Banks
and the Revival Temple Mass Choir.
I le will be singing his new release,
“everything Will Be Alright” at the
Gospel-ATair which will be held at
the Hminanucl A. M. H. C hurch at
1600 Semlinger Road.

annual banquet
The Westside Minister’s Alliance
will host their third annual
Scholarship Awards Banquet on
Itiursday, June 10, at 7:30 p in. at
die Kelly A1 B NCO Club State-
Rep. Karyne Jones-Conley will be
the keynote speaker.
Rev. R. R. Simon, pastor of St.
Joseph A. M. H. Church and president
of the Westside Minister’s Alliance
said, “It is w ith great pride and joy
that we were able to get one of our
homegrown role models as our
featured speaker. Fach year we have
given $5(X) scholarship awards to
deserving students. In 1991, we gave
out four awards, in F)92. we gave
out three awards, and this year we
intend to do even better, and with the
public’s continued help, I know we
can.”
“State Representative Conley
demonstrates to all our youth what
can happen when you seek to better
yourself through higher education,”
he continued.
Conley is a native of San Antonio
and a giaduate nf Sam I louston High -
School, and has a long history of
involvement in issues related to
education, the arts, human services,
economic development, and civil
rights.
Presently, she actively participates
in Communities in Schools, The
National Conference of Christians
and Jews, The Board of! trustees for
Incarnate Word College, and is Co-
Chair of San Antonio 2000 with
USAA General Robert McDermott
and former San Antonio mayor
Henry Cisneros.
Her professional positions include
serving as a Congressional Aide to
Congressman Andrew Young of
Georgia When Young was named
Ambassador to the United Nations
by President Jimmy Carter, she
assumed the position of Public-
Affairs Officer at the United States
Mission to the United Nations.
