Worth early in 1854 from Harrison county
and ln tho samo year formed a partnership
with a Methodist preacher named Masten
and opened up a general storo which did
a very considerable business from tho
start In tho following year Mossrs Folld
Mock and Mann built a saw and grist mill
on tho Clear Fork about a quarter of a
mile west of tbo Junction but the failure
of tho water supply caused Its abandon-
ment later In 1859 tho proposition to
build an extensive grist mill at Mansfield
nearer tho center of the wheat supply was
favorably considered and tho threostory
brick mill now in operation there was the
result In this enterprise also success
greeted their venture and the Mansfield
mill became famed from tho Rio Grande to
tho Red river Extensive contracts with
tho government brought large returns and
wagon trains camo all tho way from he
Rio Grande after flour Tho firm also
opened a general storo ln Mansfield which
was for many years tho only mercantile
establishment at that place
Mr Fclld retired from the firm In tha
early seventies and haa been a resident ot
California for somo years
Ho Is represented In Fort Worth how-
ever by threo sons who nro among tho
professional and business men of the city
