THE CUERO RECORD
VOL. 90 - No. 75
CUERO, TEXAS. WEDNESDAY, September 17, 1986
Established in 1894
Slow start for Ruby
Cuero s Ruby Begonia got off to a slow start in this year's Great Gobbler
Gallop losing the first heat of the race Saturday in Worthington, Minnesota,
to that city's swift fowl, Paycheck, named for how fast it goes. Paycheck ran
the 150-yard course in a time of 1 minute. 58 seconds. Ruby clocked in with
a time of 3 minutes. 38 seconds. In order to win the 14th running of the
gallop Cuero s beloved bird will have to make up that 1-minute, 40-second
deficit during the second heat of the race October 5 at Cuero s Turkeyfest.
