mobile drug lab on an isolated farm
near Nordheim July 10 v as sentenc-
ed to 60 years in prison and given a
$35,000 fine Thursday.
A DeWitt County Jury found
Lucille Patrick Behring, 32,,guilty
of aggravated unlawful possession
of a controlled substance.
Behring and three other persons
were arrested when state, county
and Yorktown officers raided the
farm, located on FM 2980 about 8
miles southwest of Yorktown.

Manuel Anzaldua Jr. 17, of
Cuero, has been charged with
assault with a deadly weapon,
Cuero Police Sergeant Chuck
Wilson said Thursday.
The charge stems from the knif-
ing of Raymond Orosco, 21, of
Cuero, at Circle K, 510 E. Broad-
way, on October 25.
Wilson said three juveniles and
one adult “were working on
(Orosco) with a knife and a tire
tool” when officers arrived on the
scene.
Orosco suffered cuts to his neck
and right knee area. He was treated
at hospitals in Cuero and Victoria,
requiring stitches and a soft cast.
The juveniles have been referred
to the DeW itt County Juvenile Pro-
bation Office on charges of ag-
gravated assault.

Rollouts promised
The council agreed to place small,
rollout-style garbage dumpsters
along South Valiev Street as soon as
the rollouts are available.
A delegation of six residents from
the S Valley area requested that the
larger dumpsters be removed from
the street and the rollouts placed in
the neighborhood, which has no
alley for placement of large dump-
sters.
“The rollouts will be available to
whoever wants them." Mayor Ben
Prause said A shipment of 200
rollouts is due within 90 days.

chemicals to make another 10
pounds of “speed.” A number of
loaded handguns, shotguns and
rifles were also confiscated.
Two others arrested in the raid;
Gene T. Whitaker, 32, of San An-
tonio, and Geraldine N. Harvey, 39,
of San Antonio, entered pleas of
guilty to drug charges Monday.
They were sentenced Thursday to 17.
and 15 years, respectively.
The fourth person arrested in the
raid, Elroy Guy Behring, Jr., 37, of
San Antonio, will be tried separate-
ly.

Park from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Admission is 50 cents for students in
grades six through nine.
4-H Food Show
The DeWitt County 4-H Food Show will be held Saturday at St.
Michael’s Parish Hall. The show begins at 9 a.m. Entries will be judged
at 9:15 a.m. Cuero Police Chief Tony Allen will present a program dur-
ing the judging. At 11:30 a.m., an open-to-the-public awards program
will held, followed by a tasting tea of all food items.
Women Aglow
The local Women Aglow Fellowship will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at
Christopher’s Restaurant.
SUNDAY
Legion Turkey Dinner
The 42nd Annual Baked Turkey and Dressing Dinner, sponsored by
the Cuero American Legion, will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. at the American Legion Hall. Tickets are $4.50 at the door and
drive-through service for plates-to-go will be available
Davis historical marker dedication
Dedication ceremonies for the George Washington Davis Official
Texas Historical Marker will take place on U.S. Highway 183 seven
miles north of Cuero at 3 p.m. Sunday. The ceremony is sponsored by
the DeWitt County Historical Commission.

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court will meet at 10 a.m. Mon-
day to canvass election returns, consider a contract with the University
of Texas-Galveston for indigent health care, review jail repairs and ap-

meet at noon at the First National Bank in Yorktown.

The annual meeting of the Cuero Golf Association will be held Tues-
day at 7 p.m. in the Pro Shop at the city golf course. Directors will be
elected for two-year terms.
Economic Meeting
The 2nd Town Meeting for Economic Development will be be held
Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the clubhouse in Cuero Municipal Park. The
public is invited to attend the meeting, sponsored by the Cuero
Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture.
Pioneer 4-H Club
The Pioneer 4-H Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the DeWitt
County Electric Cooperative building.
