Paradox
How many of us count our
trials as a happy privilege?
If we can learn to do so,
through the power of the
Spirit, then surely our lives
will be filled with joy. This is
not worldly wisdom, but it is
gospel wisdom, and it
enables us to develop into
mature and complete per-
sons. The poor being of high
rank, and the rich being
humbled, is also the truth
and wisdom of gospel para-
dox. And the ultimate sign
the unbelieving Pharisees
will receive - the resurrec-
tion of Jesus - is the fulfill-
ment of gospel paradox.
Lord, in the secret of my
heart, teach me wisdom.
A bishop was asked in an
interview what he thought
were the new sins of the
modern era. He gave a
thoughtful reply pointing
out sinful attitudes in rela-
tion to individual and social
rights in the modern world.
I thought it worth pondering
in light of the gospel.

and St Gregory, list seven

The Lighthouse Fellowship
Chapel presents Dianna
Senkyrik, PhD, counselor,
teacher, therapist, in a
“Living Whole Seminar:
Coming out from the
Baggage and Fulfilling the
Call,” 1 Samuel 10:22. The
seminar will be held on
Saturday, May 24, 2008,9:00
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch
at noon.
Diana Senkynik, a native
of the Texas Gulf Coast,
travels with her husband,
Mark, as an anointed Bible
teacher flowing in the Holy
Spirit as she ministers. In
the early spring of 1989, she
had a personal encounter
with the Lord while attend-
ing a women’s retreat in
the Conroe, Texas area
which changed her life for-
ever. At the time, she real-
ized that God had her here
for a divine purpose. She
accepted that call and
everything in her life
moved forward with God,
which meant that many
things were removed and
some new blessings were
added.
Dianna married Mark in
1992 and they blended
their two families of five
children. Life has offered
many adventures as Dianna
and her daughter relocated
from the city to Mark’s rural
home located thirteen from
the nearest small town. The
adjustments were like that
of the old show, “Green
Acres,” as this city girl tried
to adjust to a completely
new way of life.
God used those very
changes to bring things to
the surfacer where inner
healing was needed. Having
been reared in an abusive
alcoholic home, there were
still some emotional wounds
which needed to be healed
in order for God to use her
to help set others free. God
healed her to such a degree
that she was able to be
caregiver for 21 /2 years to
her own childhood abuser.
The Lord led her to Bible
College in 2001 as He had
begun to show her that

The group chose their name from Isaiah 58:14. “Then you shall delight yourself in the
Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth.” Members of the group
not pictured are Bonnie Bailey, Cindy Leinweber, and Debbie Nigh. This group
has been singing in nursing for the past year.

because they engender
other sins. (CCC#1866). The
sins are Pride, Avarice, Envy,
Anger, Lust, Gluttony, and
Sloth (laziness) They are
commonly called ‘deadly’
sins possibly because they
can be death-dealing if they
become a pattern of malice
in a person’s life.
More often a person’s life
would be a pattern of weak-
ness, which does give full
sway to the healing mercy
of God. God’s Mercy is more
powerful than any vice.
The modern sins which
Bishop Girotti mentioned
were: In Bioethics, reckless
experiments and genetic
manipulation; Trafficking
and Use of Recreational
Drugs which debilitate the
psyche and darken intelli-
gence; Social Inequality, the
poor getting poorer, and
the rich richer, feeding an
unsustainable social injus-
tice; The area of Ecology:
damaging planet Earth is a
sin.
Scratch the surface of
any of these modern sins
and you will find one or
more of the seven big ones.
For instance, genetic exper-
iments involve the pride of
‘playing god’ and avarice for
the big profits to be made.
And so on. The ‘modern sins’
are just the deadly sins in
drag.

to teach and equip the
saints for the work of the
ministry. She earned sever-
al degrees, ultimately grad-
uating in 2006 with her doc-
torate in Biblical Studies. At
the same time, she was also
pursuing her license as a
Therapon Belief Therapist.
Additionally, she earned
certification as a Substance
Abuse and Crisis Re-entry
Counselor. Whether serving
as a teacher, therapist or
counselor, Dianna never
forgets that it is the anoint-
ing of the Holy Spirit that
breaks the yoke of bondage
in anyone’s life.
Now, those things in her
life that the enemy meant
for harm are used for the
Glory of God as she is a
walking testament of the
grace of God to heal and set
us free. As she shares her
story, it allows others to
feel hope again and
renewed faith in the love
and power of God as we
develop a relationship with
the Lord of Lords. Dianna
teaches a message of faith
that comes from not just
knowing about God, but,
instead, having a real
encounter and relationship
with Him.

A Prayer
for Rain
Almighty God, we are in
need of rain. We realize
now, looking up into the
clear, blue sky above, what
a marvel even the least
drop of rain really is. To
think that so much water
can fall out of the sky, which
now is empty and clear! We
place our trust in You. We
are sure that You know our
needs. But You want us to
ask You anyway, to show
You that we know we are
dependent on You. Look on
our dry hills and fields, dear
God, and bless them with
the living blessing of soft
rain. Then the land will
rejoice, and the rivers will
sing your praises, and the
hearts of men will be made
glad. Amen.
(Editor’s note: This prayer
was submitted by Patrick
Lange and is believed to
have been written by
Father A. A. Gitter during
the drought in the ‘50s.)
