Harper Stock Show
This Weekend
Once again the annual
Harper Livestock Show is
here. The stock show will be
held in the Harper show
barn January 2 and 3, 2003.
Friday, the hogs will be
weighed in at 1:00 p.m. and
the meat goats and market
lambs will be weighed in at
5:00 p.m. No animals will be
allowed in the show barn
until 1 £0 p.m. on Friday.
This event will showcase
the students from the
Harper FFA chapter, Harper
4-H and Headwaters 4-H
clubs. This stock show is the
first of many in which these
students will be competing.
The Harper Stock Show is an
excellent opportunity for
these young people to
practice not only their skills,
but work on their animals9
behavior in the show ring as
well.
As always, there will be a
full concession stand avail-
able, with proceeds going
to support the 4-H and FFA
clubs in the Harper commu-
nity. The group will also
hold a 50/50 raffle during
the day. Participants buy
tickets and the winner gets
50% of the donations with
50% going to the Pig and
Lamb Sale Fund.
The hog show will start
at 9:00 a.m. followed by the
cattle show. This will be fol-
lowed by Angora goats, the
lamb show and finish with
the meat goat show. It is
predicted that the lamb
show will start right around
noon. By that time the ham-
burgers will be ready, so
asgll
ggpftBS&P
come on out and enjoy the
kids presenting their animal
projects.
Harperites are encour-
age to help raise money for
the Harper Community Sale
Fund. The money raised will
be used to purchase pro-
jects at the Gillespie County
Stock Show Sale on January
12, 2008. The directors ask
you to make a donation by
depositing it at Security
State Bank or give it to one
of the directors by January
9. If anyone can help in this
matter, it would be greatly
appreciated and the money
will go to support our
youth.
Come out and support our
students as they participate
in the first livestock show of
the year.
