Holly Vann was brought here
and tried this morning for his
murderous assault on Officer Hol-
lars last winter, and the jury gave
him the limit, a fifteen year term
.in the pen. He is on trial this
afternoon for perjury in his former
trial when he was sentenced to ten
years for assaulting Conductor
Hart. With his sentence for per-
jury and his other sentences, Vann
will be kept from mrachiei for
some time, unless he escapes.
He was an escaped convict, with
several years yet to servo when he
was sent up from here last winter,
so he may escape again. How-
ever, they will watch him from
nowon. He is a desperate negro
and his guards will give him little
' show.
