Hardin County Taxpayers bor-
rowed a technique from the Pa-
triots of the American Revolution
this week and launched a peti-
tion drive against unfair taxation.
The Original Thirteen Colonists |
signed petitions of grievance
against King George HI, The lo-
cal petitions are for, grievances
against County Judge Fletcher
Richardson and the Hardin County
Commissioners Court.
The immediate response to the
petition drive indicated that the
taxpayers of this county are fed
up with the tax situation brought
on by the Pritchard and Abbott
appraisal Contract entered into
by the Hardin County Commis-'
sioners Court. Hardin County
paid $70, 500 for this appraisalby
"out-of-county experts" at the
time that Tax Assessor-Collector
Willie Bean was asking $18,500.
But alter the Oil Companies de-
manded'the survey, the County
somehow "round" $70,500 to
get Pritchard and Abbott to do
the job. -
i Howard Barrington, resident
of the Providence Community
and prominent business man is
directing the petition drive.
In this issue of this paper is a
copy of the petition. Please cut
it out and secure the names,
addresses andtelephone numbers
of dissatisfied taxpayers. Mail
the filled in petitions to P. O.
