Forest Park 6
Silsbee won everything but the
score as the Tigers watched
their conference record slump
to 3-1. Vidor is now on top of
the league with a 4-0 mark.
All the scoring was bunched
in the second quarter at Trojan
Field Friday night
The Tigers ground out yard
after yard rushing and quar-
terback Bill Belienger com-
pleted three of five passes for
65 yards as Silsbee carded 284
yards total offense and 17 first
downs to Forest Park’s 167
yards total offense and nine
first downs..
Silsbee was the first to break
the scoring ice when Nelson
Flanagan booted a 23-yard field
goal with 5:20 left in the second
quarter.
The ensuing kickoff saw For-
est Park spring to life.
On the first play fullback Ter-
ry Alford hit over right tackle
on a trap" play for 34 yards to
move the ball from the Trojan
33 to' the Tiger 33.
Tailback Jimmy Lopez
gained seven more yards on
a counter over right tackle
on the next play. Alford ran
the trap again but was stopped
at the line of scrimmage.
Again the stellar fullback tried
the trap but once again was
stopped at the line of scrim-
mage
The next down after Alford
was sidelined quarterback Ken
Bailey rolled out to his left and
rifled a pass to end Ricky
Berry waiting along the side-
lines. Berry then raced the re-
mainder .of the distance for a
26-yard pass and run that netted
Forest Park its only, and win-
ning touchdown with 3:20 left
before intermission.
Lopez's kick for the PAT was
wide to the right and all the
scoring for the night was done.
In the first quarter Silsbee
threatened once when the Ti-
gers moved from their own 20
to the Forst Park 34 before
Gary Musick intercepted' a
Belienger aerial.
Early in the final session the
Tigers got all the way down to
Forest Park’s seven, but a five
yard penalty, the only penalty
of the night, moved the ball
back out to the 12 and the Tro-
jan defense got tough and held
until Silsbee ran out of downs
once again.
