Thursday night at the Masonic
hall, election of officers for the
coming year was held. Those
elected were: Worthy Matron,
Helen Couch; worthy patron, J.
R. Pennington; associate matron,
Ella Hurst; associate patron, L.
C. Hurst; conductress, Lela At-
taway; associate conductress,
Bernice Pennington; secretary
(re-elected) Mrs. Clara May Ted-
ford; treasurer, Nona Kaufman.
These officers and other ap-

”' Council met Monday afternoon at
the church for a regular program
and business meeting. Mrs. R.
G. Speer presided.
Mrs. C. Frazier conducted the
lesson study on “Cultivating the
Approach to People When Doing
Evangelistic Work.” The open-
ing prayer was led by Rev. C.
E. Moore followed by the group
song, “Work, for the Night is
Coming.”
During the business meeting a
special vote of thanks was given
to Port Little for the picture
AUXILIARY INITIATES
THREE NEW MEMBERS
At the meeting of the V. F. W.
Auxiliary Tuesday night at the
V. F. W. Hall three new members
were intiated into the Auxiliary.
Mrs. L. V. Rickey, president,
initiated the members, Mrs. Ethel
King, Mrs. Etha Crenshaw, and
Mrs. Iva Robert. Mrs. Cordelia
Peltier, past president, installed
Mrs. Irene Snyder as chaplain.
Mrs. Snyder who is serving her
third year as Auxiliary chaplain
was unable to be present when
the regular installation of offic-
ers was held several weeks ago.
After the meeting a social hour
was held and refreshments of
cookies and orange punch were
served. A very good attendance
was reported.

Cadet, who has been stationed at
Miami, Fla., arrived home Satur-
day to visit his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ira Cundiff. After visiting

IS HONORED
Capt. and Mrs. C. J. Bromley
entertained at their home Tues-
day evening with a weiner roast
honoring their daughter, Jane
Marie Bromley who is graduating
from high school this year. Mem-
bers of the high school speech
class were guests.
The living room and dining
room and lawn of the home were
decorated in purple and gold for
the occasion, carrying out the
school colors. In the living room
a huge mirror reflected a V for
Victory in purple and gold. Bas-
kets and vases of flowers were
placed about the rooms.
Placed on a reflector on the
dining room table was an oval
basket filled with artificial water
lilies. In the lilies were over 60
congratulation cards which were
presented to the honoree.
On the lawn roasted
marshmallows, and
were served. A red
WEDNESDAY CLUB
IS ENTERTAINED
Mrs. R. L. Mercer entertained
at her home this week for mem-
bers of the Wednesday Bridge
Club. Roses and fern were used
to decorate the rooms. Preced-
ing the games, the group elected
Mrs. R. E. Angelloz as club chair-
man to succeed Mrs. Wm. Sny-
der who resigned.
Prizes were awarded to Mrs.
W. A. Kieberger for high score
and Mrs. Angelloz for keeno.
Those playing were Mesdames
Walter Noble, J. R. Barry, Carl
Utterback, Angelloz, E. W. Terry,
J. L. Spice, W. A. Kieberger, and
R. L. Mercer.

of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Craig of
this city, underwent an appendi-
citis operation in a Corpus Chris-
ti hospital last week. He has
been returned home and is re-
ported to be improving.
