faced girl who died under the
wheels of a reckless driver’s
car just before last Christmas.
It describes the scene in a
hospital. Mrs. Crawford is there

Toy Box Kills
Small Child
NORWALK, Calif. — Just a
children’s box for toys. But
Donald Brown, of Norwalk, who
built it because of his love,
now has destroyed it because of
his grief over a tragedy it
caused.
Brown built the box to hold
the treasures of his three chil-
dren. His 14-month-old nephew,
Larry Bacon, came to visit. The
tot wandered into a bedroom,
spotted the box and bent over
to examine the toys.
Somehow the lid fell, striking
his neck. Larry was killed.
Brown took the box into his
back yard and smashed it.
entered a plea of guilty to a
charge of drunken driving. It;
was his second conviction forj
the same offense within several
months.
The story had a marked effect;
on the man.
