at the proper hour delicious re-

Henrietta was never more charm-

indeed most admirable skill with
which she, assisted by her moth-
er, Mrs. M. Simpson, Mr. and
Mrs. Eugene Low, and Mr. arid
Mrs. Wm. Baumgartner, hand-
died the jolly crowd and kept the
pleasures and amusements com-
ing thick aud fast. The guests
who were received at the door
by Misses, Nellie Williamson and
Henrietta Simpson and Messrs.
Uhas. Simpson and Jim Gaffney,
were: Mesda.mes. Chas. Reagan,

organization, necessarily so, ow-
ing to the ladies being admitted
to membership,-and we hope to
see it prosper and wax strong.
Our hustling druggist, E. I).
Clarkson, who always carries a
stock of goods that would do
credit to a much larger town
than Refugio, received a large
shipment of druggists sundries
this week, including the finest
line of perfumeries he has ever
yet had, complete stock of stat-
ionery and school supplies and
other articles too numerous to
mention.
Our popular jeweler, Wm.
Baumgartner is receiving new
goods every week now, by way
of stocking up for the Christmas
trade. His stock of jewelry is
the best we have ever seen in a
town the size of the Mission, and
he is to be congratulated upon
having worked up such nice trade
by honest dealing aud straight,
np-to-date goods.
Messrs Cochran and Hardeman
of Beeville were in town this week
having spent a couple of days in
this vicinity on a hunt. Mr.
Cochran is the managing mem-
ber of the firm of C. E Cochran
& Son, Beeville’s leading grocery
house, and in mixing business
with pleasure did considerable
business with our merchants.
IT RAINED.
During the past several weeks
quite a number of showers have
fallen in this section, ranging in
water fall from one to three inch-
es and which did such a, tremen-
dious amount of good that we
were loath to call them good
rains, but computed with the del-
uge of water that fell last even-
ing they truly dwindle into mere
showers. About half past four
o’clock yesterday evening the
flood gates were opened on us
and for four or five hours', with
an occasional slack up, water fell
in a solid sheet.

NOTICE.
It has been circulated that I had
sold my practice to Dr. J. H.
Harlan, and in returning to Bee-
ville and resuming practice I’ve
transgressed upon the Dr’s,
rights. I desire to inform the
public that as 1 did not sell to
Dr. Harlan, I do not feel as if I
had committed a transgression.
My office will be found over First
National Bank.
