It’s Carnival Time At Texas Lutheran
New Building Is
Dedicated To j
Honor G. Langner
All Texas, along with visitors
from cut cf the state, was repre-
sented at the dedication of Lang- j
ner Memorial Hall on March 31.
The new building was named in :
honor of Rev. G. Langner, who
was the first president of TLC
from 1891 to 1896.
Attending were nearly 300 dele- j
gates to the Texas District con-
vention of the American Lutheran
Church in session at TLC.
An academic procession of all
the participants on the program
opened the service. The Faculty
group rendered an anthem and
Rev. Eric Hawkins gave a Scrip-
ture reading and prayer.
Dr. J. C. K. Preuss, Educational
Director of the Board .of Educa-
tion of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church, the speaker for the after-
noon, addressed the assembly on
“This New Generation”.
H. O. Niemeyer, former presi-
dent of the Immanuel • Lutheran
Church of Knippa, of which Rev.
G. Langner was pastor until his
death, spoke on behalf of the con-
gregation of Knippa.
Dr. A. G*. Wiederaenders gave
a response on behalf of the Lang-
ner family.

Phi Theta Kappa

On Monday Night
The Alpha Phi Chapter of the
Phi Theta Kappa is sponsoring
a spring carnival to be held at the
gym on next Monday night, April
26, at 7:00 p. m., Melvin Vogel-
pohl, president of the organiza-
tion has announced.
The Carnival will be open to the
public, and will include concessions
of interest for all groups and ages.
Appropriate music and confetti
will provide an atmosphere and
background for an array of fun-
provcking activities, Melvin said.
The concessions will include a
fun house; a side show; several
booths such as dart throws, hoop
rings, basketball throw, a shoot-
ing range, a fish pond, and a ride.
Pink lemonade, pop com balls,
and home made cakes will be
provided by a foods committee,
Melvin stated. Balloons will be
sold by a typical carnival clowm,
and prizes will be awarded at each
concession.
The carnival was planned by a
central committee, consisting of
Melvin Vogelpohl, Arthur Mc-
Dougall, Ted Kniker, Florence
Matthys, and Bonnie Powers. All
work on the carnival is being done
by Phi Theta Kappa members.

of Langner Memorial Hall.

This year’s program, which is
divided into three groups, includes
“Wake, Awake”, Christiansen;
“Create in Me,” Watson; “Howr

Nicolai-Bach; and “Hossiana”,
Schreck.
