TLC Ex Elected
To School Board
Garfield Kiel, TLC Ex of 1938
and editor of the Guadalupe Gaz-
ette-Bulletin, was elected as a
member of the Seguin Indepen-
dent School Board in an election
held Saturday, April 3.
Kiel’s election came as a sur-
prise since the names of two un-
opposed incumbents appeared on
the ballot, and his 141 votes were
“write-in’s”. Kiel, who was out
of town on election day, claims he
knew nothing of a “write-in”
movement'.
Garfield Kiel was an outstand-
ing basketball athlete at TLC m
1938. He was Director of Publi-
city for the college from 1940 un-
til February 1944 when he was
granted a leave of absence to enter
military service. He resigned his
position at the college upon his
discharge in August, 1946.
