BOERNE CHURCH
EXPANDS WORK
The First Baptist Church of
Boerne expanded its recreation-
al facilities when it voted to pur
chase equipment for table ten-
nis, croquet, volley-ball and
other games, and set aside one
night a week as church recrea-
tion night. Mrs. H. A. Clute ap-
pointed committees to put the
plan into operation.
The move followed that of the
owners of three lots next to the
church property who agreed to
let the church have the use of
them for recreational purposes
in exchange for keeping the lots
clean.
MRS. BERTIE DAY
COMPLIMENTED
The faculty of the Boerne
School complimented Mrs. Ber-
tie Day, retiring teacher in the
school, with a tea at the home
of Mrs. Attie Zoeller on Wed-
nesday afternoon.
Mrs. Day is retiring after 42
years teaching. She has been
employed in the Boerne school
since 1945.
Miss Dorothy Vogt and Mrs.
TempeBeasley served. Both
Miss Vogt and Mrs. Beasley
have resigned their positions in
the school.
M. C. TREIBER
Mr. M. C. Treiber passed a-
way in Kerrville, Texas, May 11
1951. Services were held at
Waring on Saturday, May 12.
Interment was in the Waring
cemetery.
He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Mary Treiber, 11 children,
and 14 grandchildren, 2 broth-
ers, Fred Treiber of Waring
and Frank Treiber of San An-
tonio; two sisters, Mrs. Anna
Schilling of Comfort and Mrs.
Anton Rusch of Boerne.
Mr. and Mrs. Rusch, Mes-
dames*Cecil Noah, Amo Meckel
and Hugo Stueve of Boerne at-
tended the services.
BOERNE STUDENTS
ON CAMP TRIPS
Members of the Arrow Camp-
Clubs of the seventh, eighth
and ninth grades of the Boerne
school will take cooking les-
sons the easy way this week
under the direction of Coach
Lloyd Dyer.
They will go on separate
camping trips on the Guadalupe
River.
Girls of the fifth grade, chap-
eroned by Mrs. Maidie Wester-
holm, went to the Alvin Herbst
ranch. They included Jeanette
Holekamp, Melba Cole, Betty
Westerholm, Florence Leonard,
Esther Leal, Jonell Davis, Ju-
lian Leidl, Judith Ebner, Caro-
lyn Jo Harz, Carole Sue Beas-
ley, Carolyn Hillebrandt, John-
ny Jo Reynolds. It was the
girls’ second cooking lesson.
The boys’ Arrow Camping
Club which went to the Guad-
alupe River included Billy Pat
Jonas, Cecil Dietert, Charles
Bredehoft, Billy Leonard, Billy
Pechacek, Eldon Gault, Carrol
Kneupper and Richard Herms.
Mrs. Attie Zoeller spent the
weekend with her mother in
Livingston, Texas.

Watts Visited By
Notables
Mrs. Rhea M. Muir of On-
tario, Canada made a flying trip
to Boerne last Wednesday for
a few hours visit with Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Watts. On Thurs-
day morning she left for San
Antonio to rejoin a Caravan en-
l"oute from Canada to Mexico
City where the annual conven-
tion of the Hotel Greeters of
America was held this year.
Miss Muir is a member of the
Headquarters staff of the On-
tario Motor League, who are as-
sociated with the AAA and the
Royal Automobile Club of
London, England and she is also
publicity Covenor of the Char-
ter.
About twenty years ago Miss
Muir made the first solo trip to
be made by a woman over the
Highway which links New York
and San Diego, California. She
was several years ago proclaim-
ed “The Sweetheart of the
Broadway of America.”
Other notables in the Cara-
van from Toronto were Mrs.
Ada Blasco, President of the
Woman’s Division Charter Hotel
Greeters of America and her
husband, George Blasco, Mana-
ger of the Brown Derby Club in
Toronto; Miss Jean McHarty,
Secretary of the Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority, a National Organiza-
tion, the principals of which are
to promote interest in friendship
and culture.
The Caravan displaying flags
of various countries, left San
Antonio Thursday morning es-
corted by the Mexican Govern-
ment Police Patrol.
N. G. Watts, of Naples, Texas,
Vice President of the Broadway
of America Association accom-
panied the Caravan to San An-
tonio, then came to Boerne to
spend several days with his
brother, Elmer Watts.

SURPRISE PARTY
On Sunday night, Mrs. John
Holman was honored with a
surprise Mothers Day party by
her lovely daughter Doris Marie
at the Holman home.
The table was covered with a
white Lace Linen and a large
bouquet, of Gladiolas made the
room most beautiful.
The cake was a large square
cake. It was decorated with
Mother. And also had pink and
blue sweet peas.
Cake, sandwiches and punch
was served by Doris M. Holman,
Mrs. Earl Thomas, Mrs. L. R.
Gault-and Mrs . Claude Holman.
There was 25 guests present.
And everyone left wishing Mrs.
Holman many more Mothers
Day to come.

The Wyler Watch that can
be seen in the fish pond at Hill-
mann’s will be dropped from an
airplane May 27th at- Camp
Stanley Ball Park.
Kendall Road Closed
Kendall County Commission-
ers have closed a .36 acre road
off the Boerne-Bandera high-
way on the petition of nine tax-
payers, headed by Rad Spencer. ^
Attorney Malnor Shumard
presented the petition. The road
had previously been abandoned
in favor of a new road.

of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Sigler
left on Wednesday for Green-
wood, Miss, where they have
gone to welcome their great
grand baby and visit with other

Taylor MeCrocklin attended the
annual luncheon of the Blanco
Womans Club in the St. Antho-
ny Tapestry Room Wednesday.
