LUTHERAN CHURCH
Rev. H. W. Dannhaus, Pastor
Sunday School at 9:30 a. m.
Worship hour at 10:30 a. m.
A young mother was sitting
by the fireplace with her five-
year-old boy while she enter-
tained him with a bedtime
story. When he picked up a
poker and began punching at
the logs, she said, “Tom, when
you do that you knock the logs
down and make smoke come in-
to the room.” He continued
and then she took the poker
away from him. He was silent
for a moment, then turned to
her and angrily said, “I’m go-
ing to cut you up and throw
you into the fire.”
Whether Tom meant it or
not, he could have acted other-
wise! The Sunday School is an
agency of the church to help
parents and their children i n
such a way that they will be
happy in their environment and
home. Give us a chance with
your children and we will teach
them to grow u as godley men
and women. Instruct them in
the way they should go and
when they are old they will not
depart from it.
Bring your children to Sun-
day School regularly. We have
a class for each age group.
They need what the word of
God can offer them,

Holds Banquet
The Spanish Club held a ban-
quet in the Boerne Grade School
Cafteria. A Mexican supper
was served to 38 members and
guests.
Fruit decorations were used
for the centerpiece on the tables.
The room was decorated with
red, white and green streamers
forming the Mexican flag.
After the supper the program
was started with a speech by
the president of the Spanish
Club, * George Hernandez. We
then heard from Mr. Rice and
Mr. Liesman and from every
member and guest.
Alice Ann Herbst played sev-
eral numbers on the accordian,
followed by two piano solos by
Courtney Noll.
Everyone had a most enjoy-
able time.

“SALVATION ARMY
PRISON SUNDAY”
The Salvation Army Corps of
Texas, and Salvation Army
groups throughout the U. S. will
join April 30 in the observance'
of “Salvation Army Prison Sun-
day.”
The organization will revote
the day to special religious ser-
vices for men and women be-
hind bars in jails and prisons
throughout the State, Lt. Col.
John A. Morrison, Texas divis-
ional commander, announced.
“We have always considered
it one of our duties to work
with the prisoner in the rebuild-
ing and maintenance of faith
and courage the day of his re-
lease and return to normal life,”
Colonel Morrison said, “and our
year-round work in jails and
prisons has long been an import-
ant part of our welfare pro-
gram.”
The Salvation Army is the
largest volunteer parole agency
in Texas today, and more than
1,000 ex-prisoners are under its
guidance.
Baked or unbaked breads and
rolls may be frozen and if pro-
per methods of packing, freez-
ing and storage are followed,
baked rolls will be just as light
and tender after freezing as be-
fore. Unbaked rolls, when froz-
en, don’t always turn out as
well.
Don’t forget the Barbeque and
May Fete at the Football Field
—6 p. m. May first.
The highest reported wheat
yield ever made in Texas was
made in 1949 by John Paetzold
of Deaf Smith County— 92.5
bushels per acre.
