Bogata Rodeo
Princess contest

Kingstan Kain Day is April 5th

Several years ago Garth
Brooks had a big hit song
called "The Dance". Well,
that was nothing like THE
DANCE that is going to be
in Bogata Saturday night,
April 5thbeginning at 7:00
p.m. in the old school gym.
Each year Lewis Home
Health sponsors Dancing
With The Stars program as
a benefit. All the proceeds
go to various needy orga-
nizations like Race For Life
or individuals who have
cancer related sickness and
treatments.
It is always a fun filled
evening for a great cause
with some beautiful danc-
ing by various couples.
This year the program is
to benefit Mr. Kingstan
Kain. Kingstan is the 4 year
old grandson of Jim, and
Carolyn Kain and the great-
grandson of Mary Ellen
Kain. He has been diag-
nosed with leukemia and
has traveled a long j oumey
of sickness and has a long
way to go.
Saturday, April 5th is be-
ing proclaimed Kingstan
Kain Day in Bogata by
Mayor Vincent Lum and
Kingstan will also be pre-
sented Honorary Bogata
Policeman certificate by
Chief David Short and his
officers as well as Bogata
Honorary Fire Chief and
Responder certificates by
F ire Chief Jerry Hutson and
the Bogata Fire Depart-
ment personnel.
All in all it will be a
wonderful night of enter-
tainment for a great cause
and you won't want to miss
it.
The rules for entering the Bogata
Rodeo Princess contest have
been released.Final date for
signups will be May 17
JUDGING AND RULES:
Judging will be determined by
the amount of rodeo ticket sales
(50%), Interview (25%), and
apparel judging (25%); which
will consist of Cowgirl attire :
Jeans, Boots, Long Sleeve Shirt,
and Cowboy Hat., (date of the
interview and apparel judging
will be the Saturday before the
Rodeo on June 21, 2013 (place
and time to be announced). The
contestant must be between the
ages of 5 - 9 and live within a
50 mile radius of Bogata, Texas.
A separate Award will be
presented for Miss Congeniality;
This is a special honor and is
determined by the judges who
consist of Rodeo Queen’s and
experienced judges who are from
out of town. This award will be
presented on Saturday night of
the rodeo performance June 28,
2014. The Miss Congeniality
Award is in memory of Gracie
Williams, daughter Kevin
Williams and Jana Goforth,
Granddaughter of Doug and
Kathy Sue Williams, and Roger
and Joan Weatherall.
A photo will be needed by May
17, 2014 at the time of signups,
(time and place to be
announced). This will be
entered in the Thunder Prairie
Publishing newspapers Tuesday,
May 27, 2014 for announcing
who the contestants for this year
will be. Please have a brief
summary about the contestant
with the following information:
Name - Age - Parents
Names - Grandparents
Names - Home town
All contestants must be
present for the Rodeo parades
(Thursday and Saturday) and
each night of the Rodeo
performances... NO
EXCEPTIONS. Contestants
will be permitted to ride their
horse in the Parades and the
Grand Entry. You must be
prompt and present for the
Princess entrance in the Dodge
Ram Pickup.
All contestants must be
present at 7pm, at the Rodeo
performances and will meet by
the bam next to the Concession
stand on the south side of the
Arena.
All Contestants must wear
western clothing consisting of
long sleeves, jeans or dress jeans,
and a western style hat and boots
whenever they are in the Rodeo
Arena.
Any questions, complaints or
any other issues regarding any
aspect of the Princess contest
will ONLY be addressed from
the signed parent/guardian of
each Princess contestants and
will be conducted by the Princess
Coordinator and a member of the
Bogata Rodeo Association. If
any rules are broken: There will
be a 50% point deduction for

they are representing the Bogata
Rodeo Association at all times.
