UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE
STASH WIGIERT, OF BRE1\lOND, TEXAS.TOILET.
Specification of
Application filed Hay 23,To acl whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STASH WIGIERT, a
citizen of the United States, residing at
Bremond, in the county of Robertson and
5 State of Texas, have invented certain new
and useful Improvements in Toilet Articles,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to toilet articles
and has special reference to a combined comb
10 and brush.
More particularly the invention-relates to
a novel means of constructing a plurality
of articles of this description and a cover
therefor in such a way that the cover may
15 be used either alone or in connection with
one of' the articles as a handle for one or
the other of said articles..
One important object of the invention is
to improve the general construction of de-
20 vices of this character.
A second important object of the inven-
tion is to provide a device of this character
consisting of a comb and brush and cover,
the different parts being so connected that
25 spring clutches will hold them in the de-
sired positions.
With the above and other objects in view,
as will be hereinafter apparent the invention
consists in general of certain novel details
30 of construction and combinations of parts
hereinafter fully described, illustrated in
the accompanying drawing, and specifically
claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like char-
35 acters of reference indicate like parts in the
several views, and
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a combined
comb and brush in folded position.
Fig. 2 is a back view thereof.
40 Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of
Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a detail section on the line 4-4
of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 2 but
45 showing the cover turned back to form a
handle for the brush.
Fig. 6 is a side view, partly in section,
of the parts when arranged as in Fig. 5.
Fig. 7 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but
50 showing the comb in position for use, the
cover and brush forming the handle for the
comb.
Fig. 8 is a detail section showing the latch
for holding the cover on the brush.

tion there is provided a brush having a back
10 and in the back face. of this brush is .a
recess 11-while on the front face thereof
there is provided the usual brush bristles
12. Projecting from.one end of the brush 60
is a pair of spring arms 13 which are spaced
at their free ends and provided with in-
wardly facing clutch elements 14.
In order to protect the bristles in travel-
ing and also to form a handle for the brush 65
there is provided a hollow cover 15 from
one end of which projects spring arms 16
spaced at their extremities and provided
with outwardly facing clutch members 17
and inwardly facing clutch members 18, the 70
clutch members 17 fitting between and co-
operating .with the clutch members 14 and
being.so arranged that when the device is
flattened as in Fig. 1. the spring clutch will
tend to hold it in this flattened position and, 75
when the device is open as in Fig. 5, the
spring clutch will tend to hold it in the open
position. Moreover, in order to assist in
holding the device closed there is provided
on the free end of the cover 15 a spring 80
latch 19 engaging a bead 20 in a recess 21
in -the brush back when the cover is folded,
this construction being best seen in Fig. 8.
Normally lying in the recess 11 is a comb
22 and from one.end of this comb projects 85
an arm 23 having at its end outwardly fac-
ing clutch, members 24 which lie .between
the clutch members 18 and are so engaged
therewith that the comb may be either locked
in position as shown in Figs. 2 and 5 or 90
may be locked in the position shown in Fig.
7. In the latter position it is to be observed
that the brush back and cover 15 combine
to form a handle for the comb 22. It will
also be noted that the recess 11 is sufficiently 95
deep to completely house the comb when the
entire device is folded as in Fig. 2.
The use of the device will be readily un-
derstood from the drawings, the parts being
folded into position as shown in Fig. 1 for 100
packing; as in Fig. 5 for use as a brush, and
as in Fig. 7 for use, as a comb.
There has thus been provided a simple
and efficient device of the kind described
and for thepurpose specified. 105
It is obvious that many minor changes
may be made in the form and.construction
of the invention without departing from the
material principles thereof. It is not there-
fore desired to confine the invention to the 110
