As of today twenty-one million American
workers are investing eight per cent of their
salary - every pay day - in United States War Savings
Bonds. This is a very remarkable tribute to our
armed force-: who are fighting this war. Bat this
job is only two-thirds accomplished-
There are rrine million additional American
workers who are not investing in War Ecnds every
pay day.
Thi3 appeal is directed to two groups of
Americans:
First - the twenty-one million people who are
investing eight per cent of their wages. Wo ask
them to increase their investment to ten per cent
or more. »■
Second - the other nine million whom wo ark to
join the Payroll Savings Plan and to invet ten
per cent or more of their earnings.
It is our earnest hope hero at the Treasury
Department that by New Year's Day th.rty million
Amer’icar- will be investing ten per cent or more
of their wagon in War Bondi t\: • ‘ ; Fayroll
Savings Plan.
