Pastoral Institute
commissions 27 persons
In a Mass celebrated by Bishop Roberto
O. Gonzdlez, O.EM. on May 17 the
Diocese of Corpus Christi's Pastoral
Institute commissioned 27 religious and
lay people as Catechists, Catechists/
Coordinators, Evangelizers, Family Life
Ministers, Liturgical Ministers, Tribunal
Advocates, Youth Ministers and School
Teachers.
Elsie Gessling, St. Elizabeth’s Parish in
Alice, an active parishioner since 1983,
considers herself blessed to be recommis-
sioned for the second time.
“It is very rewarding to work with
Religious Education and St. Vincent de
Paul. It certainly is a great honor. It makes
you be aware of all the things that you are
doing — it also keeps you very busy,”
Gessling said.
As a mother of two and a grandmother
of three she still found time over the past
fifteen years to be President of the
Diocesan Council of Catholic Women
(1986-1988) and to be a part of the
DCCW Burse Club and a fund-raiser for
the Seminarian Burse Fund. On the parish
level she also partakes in Religious
Education, Parish Council and the Society
of St. Vincent de Paul.
She was recommissioned as an
Evangelizer May 17. She says she hopes to
welcome newcomers to St. Elizabeth
parish as well as extend an invitation to
people to attend her church. She was
sponsored by the Office of Pastoral
Services, Father Robert Dunn, Secretary.
