THE BOERNE STAR
SCHOOLS TO CLOSE AT
3:25 P. M. ON FRIDAYS
Superintendent of Schools Roy
Liesman announces that the
Boerne schools will close at 3:25
p. m. every Friday hereafter un-
til further notice.
Report cards will be issued to
the students this Friday at the
close of school for the first six
weeks of work and Mr. Liesman
urges parents to take this op-
portunity to visit the school.
Miss Mary Jane Insall, bride-
to-be of this month, was compli-
mented with a miscellaneous
shower on Friday evening. The
party was held at the Methodist
Church annex. The lace covered
table had as its centerpiece a
white paper umbrella under
which the gifts were placed.
Hostesses were Mesdames Eddie
Schmidt and Le Roy Schweth-
elm. The honoree received many
lovely gifts.
Father Leo Pesek attended
the annual Alumni Association
meeting of St. John’s Seminary
in Tyler the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Helm of
Dumas, Texas, visited Mr. and
Mrs. F. H. Helm and daughter
in Boerne.
OSCAR FRITZ RUST
Funeral services were held at
3 p. m. Thursday for Oscar Fritz
Rust, 46, who died of a heart
attack Wednesday. The Rev.
Thedor Winter officiated at St.
John’s Lutheran Church.
Rust, who was associated with
John Kutzer in the wholesale
Gulf Oil and Pearl Beer Distrib
uting Company, was born in
Waring, Texas.
He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Ella Seewald Rust; his
mother, Mrs. Hugo Rust; two
sisters, Mrs. Emil Vogt and Mrs.
Charles Vogt of Boerne; and
three brothers, Otto, Max and
Alvin Rust, all of Comfort.

gion, the largest veterans’ or-
ganization in the history of man-
kind and
Whereas, the department of
Texas through it’s executive
committee and it’s state com-
mander, Albert D. Brown has
set aside the above date for
special emphasis upon the Amer-
ican Legion and its program and
Whereas the local post of the
American Legion has over a long
period of years contributed to
the welfare of this community
and area and has constantly
fought for veterans’ benefits
and for the widows and orphans
of veterans, I Clarence E. Diet-
ert as mayor of The City of

Hereby proclaim, Monday,
October 20 as “L” Day in honor
of the American Legion and

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
The Parent-Teacher associa-
tion of the Boerne Colored school
will entertain with a Halloween
carnival at the school Friday,
October 24.
Mrs. Era Davis is president of
the PTA. Mrs. Addie Wilson is
program chairman and Mrs.
Artie Foxx is chairman of the
entertainment committee.
The members of the Royal
Neighbors met for their regular
October meeting at the home of
Mrs. Charles Agold on Monday
afternoon, due to illness, atten-
dance was small. After a short
discussion a social hour was en-
joyed during which the hostess
served sandwiches, cake, coffee
and tea.
