Mrs. J. T. Williams entertain-
ed the Business Women’s Circle
of Alamo Heights Presbyterian
Church in her home Sunday af-
ternoon. Mrs. Hugh Osborne, of
Alamo Heights, acted as co-
hostess and there were 20 pres-
ent. Dr. Berta Murray, in charge
of Pres-Mex School at Taft, was
guest speaker. After the busi-
ness meeting, devotional and
program, a social hour followed
and refreshments were served
by the hostesses.
Joseph Bergmann won first
prize in the second grade bird
house contest. Joseph’s bird-
house looks like a ranch house
and is painted red and green.
Eight bird houses were entered
in the contest by the children of
the second grade.

Dolan-Benkendorfer District on
Tuesday Oct. 28, W. 0. W. Hall,
822 East Houston St. San Anto-
nio, Texas. Inasmuch as there
are so many activities coming
up during the Fall and Early
Spring months, we shall have a
very stream lined convention.
There will be no morning session
and no luncheon. Meeting will
be called at 1:00 P. M. and we
hope to adjourn not later than
4:00 p. m.
We hope as many of your
members as possible can come,
that we may have fellowship one
with another.

RURAL FIRE MEETING
CALLED FOR MONDAY
NIGHT
A meeting of the officers, di-
rectors and subscribers of the
Boerne Rural Fire Association
has been called for 8 o’clock
Monday night at the Fire House.
At that time the charter grant-
ed by the Secretary of State will
be presented and the by-laws of
the association will be submit-
ted for approval.
It is requested by the direc-
tors that all road chairman who
worked originally on soliciting
funds for purchase of the fire
fighting equipment be present,
so that the campaign can be
brought to a close. A financial
statement will be made at the
meeting and all those who have
contributed are invited to be
present.
New members of the Boerne
Pep Squad include: Lillian Lit-
tle, Joyce Patch, Jim Menhenn-
ett, Jimmy Gourley, Jim Hale,
Curtis Voges, Fred Reissig and
Homer Walker.
GREYHOUNDS GO TO
PLEASANTON
The Boerne Greyhounds will
go to Pleasanton Friday night
to encounter the Pleasanton
High school football team.
The school busses also will
take the Boerne band and the
pep squad.
Football enthusiasts are urg-
ed to join the trek to Pleasanton.
The hunt for muledeer is on.
Mayor Clarence Dietert, Mr. and
Mrs. A1 Gray, A. Wendler, Hen-
ry Nickels, H. L. Davis, Jr., A.
J. Rust and Dr. Roy Perkins left
this week to hunt in Kaibab
Forest, Arizona.
READING CLUB MEETS
The Boerne Reading Club met
at the home of Mrs. L. J. Greg-
ory with fifteen members ans-
wering to roll call.
The president, Mrs. A. E. Cov-
eney, extended a warm welcome
to our two new members, Mrs.
I. W. Dedeker and Mrs. Jack R.
Davis.
The program leader for the
day, Mrs. John F. Kutzer, pro-
vided us with a rare treat—the
opera La Traviata. Her vivid
narration was accompanied by
record selections from the opera.
When the meeting adjourned
the hostess served a most de-
licious salad plate to the mem-
bers and the following guests:
Mrs. Floyd Helm, Jr., Mrs. Floyd
Helm, Sr., Mrs. L. A. Cheno-
weth, and Mrs. Walter Cline, Jr.

Saturday for a vacation in Ari-
zona where A1 will join the other
Boerne hunters. Afterwards
they will go to Berkley, Califor-
nia to visit Mr. and Mrs. James
Hudson. They also expect to vis-
it “Red” Gray in San Diego, Cal.
Among the many who enjoy-
ed an evening of playing cards
at the Veterans Hall in Comfort
last Saturday evening were the
following: the two lady candi-
dates of Kendall County, Tillie
Rahm for County Treasurer and
Lorene Harz for County Clerk,
and their husbands, Otto Rahm
and Udo Harz; Sheriff candi-
date Ed. Whitworth, and Mrs.
Whitworth, Mrs. Margaret
Schwarz, and Joe Ammann.
