UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BENCE O. BROWN, OF COLORADO, TEXAS.
NECKTIE-PRESSER.Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 14, 1915.
Application filed February 15, 1915. Serial No. 8,276.To all whomit may concern:
Be it known that I, BENCE 0. BROwN, .a
citizen of , the United States, residing at
Colorado, in the county of Mitchell and State
5 of Texas, have invented certain new and
useful Improvements in Necktie-Pressers;
and I do hereby declare the following to be
a full, clear, and exact description of. the
invention, such as will enable others skilled
10 in the art to which.it appertains to make and
use the same.
This invention relates to necktie pressers,
and the principal object of the invention is
to provide a device of simple construction
15 which will hold a number of scarfs or neck-
ties flat and will press them so that they will
always be in proper condition for wear..
'When neck scarfs or neckties are worn a
short'time they become very much wrinkled,
20 and if properly pressed out they make a 11eat
appearance. It is troublesome and some-
times expensive to have a number of neck-
ties or scarfs ironed out..
The principal object of this invention is
25 to hold the scarfs after they have been taken
.off the wearer in a press which will keep
them smooth and in proper condition for
wear. .
The 'foregoing 'and other objects may be
30 attained by means of the construction 'llus-
trated in the accompanying drawing, in
which the figure of the drawing is a perspec-.
tive view showing a necktie presser made in
accordance with this invention.
35 Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1
designates a cross head or hanger, provided
with a suspending hook 2 at the center there-
of. Projecting from the opposite sides of
the cross heads 1. near the bottom thereof are
40 pintles 3, and pivoted upon said pintles are
metal hanger plates 4 and 5, said plates
having curved upper ends 6. Secured to the
lower ends of the hangers 4 is a board 7
having a mirror 8 on the outer face thereof.
45 Connected to the hangers is a plain board
9. A.central presser board 10 is connected
by suitable hangers 11 to the pintles 3, said
hangers carrying springs 12. The springs
12 have a tendency to force the members 7
50 and 9 outward when released at the lower
end. A rod of wood~or metal 13, extendsacross and is secured to the hangers 4, and
the scarfs or neckties 14: are doubled in the
center or ling on the rod 13 and extend
upon opposite sides of the presser board 10. 55
Any suitable number of scarfs or ties may
be suspended from the rod 13 and. pressed be-
tween the -members 7 and 9 against the
presser board. 10. After the ties have been
placed.in position the members 7 and 9.are 60
closed up against the ties upon opposite sides
of the presser board 10 and said members are
locked in place by means of bolts 15 pivot-
ally connected to staples 16 at the opposite
sides of the board 9, said bolts adapted to 65
engage slots 17 formed in a cross bar 18 on
the front member 7. A knob or handle 19
projects from the lower end of the member 7.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that
a necktie presser made in accordance with 70
this invention is comparatively simple in
construction, inexpensive to manufacture,
and will operate efficiently to press a number
of scarfs or ties at the same time and permit
any one of. them to be removed for wear. 75
By turning the thumb nut a, after' the
bolts 15 have been swung into the slots 17,
any suitable pressure may be applied to the
members 7 and 9 against the pressure board
10 and the scarfs or ties. 80
XVarious changes may be made in the de-
tails of construction without departing from
the spirit and scope of the invention as de-
fined in.the claims..
W\hat is claimed is:- ' 85
1. A necktie presser comprising a cross
head, pintles extending from the sides of the
cross head, hangers pivoted on the pintles,
-presser boards connected to the hangers,

the hairgers for the front board, means for
adjusting and locking the two outer boards
against the central board, said .means com

of the boards aind pivoted bolts connected
to the other. board and winged nuts for ad-
justing said presser boards.-against the cen-
