effectual jack will be provided. Further-
more it will be seen through the link con-
nection with the lever 7 when said lever is
in its lowered position and the weight at-
5 tached to the block 13, the back of the
standard 3 being in engagement with the
lever 7 sustains the weight upon the block
13 in a raised position. It is also obvious
that when the jack is unfolded the action 'of
10 the link 20 upon the lever 7 forces the same
into an upright position thereby bringing
it within convenient reach of the operator
for raising the load imposed upon the jack,
and furthermore through the action -of this
15 same link upon the lever 7, in closing the
jack the block 13 will be brought to its
lowermost or normal position.
Having thus described my invention
what is claimed as new, is:
20 1. A jack comprising a channeled stand-
ard formed from sections which, when
united, provide a hinge joint including a
pintle, a load carrying block slidable upon
.one of the sections, a forked lever mounted
25 upon said pintle, and a link eccentrically
connecting said lever with the load carrying
block.
2. A jack comprising a channeled stand-
ard formed from sections hingedly con-
30 nected together by means of a pintle inter-
mediate the ends of the standard, a load
carrying block slidable upon and within one
of said standards, a forked lever mountedupon the above mentioned pintle, and a link
eccentrically pivoted to. said lever and con- 35
nected with the load carrying block.
3. yA jack comprising channeled sections
adapted, when united, to form a standard
having a hinge joint intermediate the ends
thereof, one of said sections being provided 40
with alined slots, a load carrying block slid-
able upon one of the channeled sections and
in said slots, means for connecting.the. load
to said block, a lever having a forked end
fulcrumed upon the standards, and a link 45
connecting the forked end of said lever with
the load carrying block.
4. A. jack comprising a pair. of channeled
sections adapted, when united end to end, to
provide a standard having a hinge joint in- 50
termediate the ends thereof, a spring latch
upon one of said sections, a load carrying
block slidable upon one of said sections, an
operating lever pivotally connected with the
standard, and a link connecting. the lever 55
and load carrying block, said lever and link
cooperating when the jack is folded to re-
store the load carrying block to its normal
position.
