Siege Of
Crimes
Conversation! the past week
have centered around water and
other city problems. Certainly
is a disgruntled citizenship over
what is believed to be a shortage
of water. What the public can
not undersand is why did the
city officials take so long to In
stall a new pump and facilities
after the bond election.
Now that the supply has

a lot of propaganda to rebuild
confidence in tho present city
administration.
The extreme hot weather has
tapered down somewhat. Pretty
tough going out in that hot sun.
A national guard commanding
officer fell out with a heart at
tack in the heat at Fort Hood.
Training this time of year is cer-
tainly taking it under the most
stringent conditions. That should
either make a soldier or kill
him one.

Reminds us of a saying which
goes like this: The American
people are a funny lot; always
wanting what Is not. When it’s
hot they want it roid. When it’a

wanting what is not. Never sat
iafled with what they’ve got.
At a matter of fact it cer-
tainly doesn't pay to be satis-
fied with what you have. Thera

That should make a vary

The city is in an uproar. Bus!
ness conditions are almost alarm

taring out so wide that a bus!

way to jump. Somebody is liable
to lose some money if a wrong
guess is made. Everything will
all come out in the washing, wo

Wacs water works era* pet-
ti np along nicely with a water
board, stated a local cittsen
yesterday. They had accumu-
lated thousands of dollars in
reserve and cleaning out the
indebtedness. Then are voted
to turn all this aver te the city
commission. The water board
was slim ins ted. The city spent
all the money. Now wa are
broke again.
In addition to that we voted
•n our selves a heavy sewer and
garbage tax. That runs our water
bill up pretty high, the inform
ant continued. We have practic
ally nothing to show for it. Oh
they’ve bought a couple of gar

this money on a new fangled

have waited until we could af-
