“ ‘THE TIME HAS COME/
THE WALRUS SAID”
Monsieur Chambray is in per-
fect accord with the walrus.
“The time has come,” says Mon-
sieur, not to speak of many
things, we’ve been gabbing en-
ough already, but to break
ground for the band stand. . .
The citizens of Boerne are
right in there plugging away,
offering their services gratis.
Monsieur tips his topper to:
THE BROTHERS VOGT,
Emil and Max, who have agreed
to step in and help.
LUDWIG PHILLIP, who has
offered his aid.
BEN GRESHAM, who, whe-
ther he does the work or not
has offered to lend his cement
mixer (Putty! Putty!) free of
chcii^B
' I. J. HOUGHTON, the county
surveyor, whom Monsieur con-
siders a very valuable guy to
have on our side. Mr. H. is not
only a dead ringer for Teddy
Roosevelt, but steps in and gets
the job done, likewise. He sur-
veyed the park for Centennial
Flowers in the beginning. This
time he will mark off the exact
measurements for the band
stand.
OTTO ZOELLER, and- the
BOERNE BAND, who will start
the music Sunday evening from
6 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the
Park. Come and bring your
children. Have a late supper or
a very early one, but don’t miss
the concert.
Monsieur says the concert is
going to be a Wow, and that
everyone will turn out for it. He
also says the band stand will be
a dream, and a permanent one.
Not one that the children can
kick over in their spare time.
Monsieur wants all and sun-
dry to know that this is your
last chance to contribute to BET-
TY NUSS’ cake, cookie and can-
dy sale, that is held every Sat-
urday at Adler’s. This is the
final sale. Don’t feel smug, says
Monsieur, about being a buyer,
it’s a baker Betty needs. She
never has enough to sell, and if
all the gentry of Boerne contri-
bute something the sky is the
limit to what she makes for the
band stand. So get in that kit-
chen and cook, for this is our
final fling and we want to clean
up. When you double your con-
tributions, Betty’s fund doubles.
Get your cakes and candy in
early. Monsieur says it’s pret-
ty bleak for Betty to sit there
until noon with buyers swarm-
ing around and nothing to sell.
If you can’t bake a cake, bake
cookies or bread or pies or rolls,
but do contribute something ed-
ible to the sale. Double some
part of your Sunday menu, and
give Betty half. Prove that you
are not only a good cook, but a
generous one.
Monsieur says there are mut-
terings of divorce among the
husbands of the wives of Cen-
tenial Flowers. Monsieur says,
don’t worry, just let him divorce
you. He is going to open a little
harem of his own and will wel-
come you with open arms. He
will even do all the dancing. If
you’re fond of your husband,
you can remind him that it’s on-
ly a bit over a month, and then
you can sign off and give him
your undivided attention. Mon-
sieur’s harem will be lively
though.

lege visited in the Wayne Sigler

vater of San Antonio spent Mon-

Engineers Give Answer to
Problem of Texas Weather
Faced with the ups and downs
of Texas weather, engineers
have produced a new motor
oil that stays thin for easy
flowing in cold weather, yet
stays full-bodied and tough on
hot days. The new product,
Humble Esso Extra Motor
Oil, has the highest resistance
to temperature changes of
any motor oil in Texas, or any-
where else, according to Hum-
ble Company technicians. The
technical name for this quality
is high viscosity index; Hum-
ble scientists add that high
viscosity index is a good guide
to high motor oil quality.
Humble station salesmen are
urging customers to drain
dirty, diluted oil and refill
with new Esso Extra Motor
Oil for extra protection. Adv.
