MEETING
The Kendall County Chapter
of the American Red Cross met
on Monday evening at Land O’
Hills Hotel with eight Directors
present. Malnor Shumard, Jr.
presided.
Judge C. G. Newton, chairman
of Kendall County Civil De-
fense presented plans for aduca-
tion in th^, homes in the event
of an atomic attack or other
local disasters.
The budget for 1956-57 was
set up and approved.
.Following the business meet-
ing commee and cake was ser-
ved.
Mrs. Joe D. Johns has r retur-
ned to her home here after an
enjoyable visit of several weeks
in Washington with the Coleman
Sims and in New York with her
sister, Mrs. M. M. Pittinger.
Mrs. C. G. Newton spent sev-
eral days this week in Austin
with her daughter Miss Scotty
Newton who is attending Texas
University.
Mrs. Tommy Thompson’s
friendly smile is being missed
by her many friends who daily
go to Ebner’s Drug Store. Her
absence is due to illness.
The Woman’s Auxiliary of
St. Helena’s Church will meet
in the Parish Hall on Friday,
Oct. 7, at 2:30 p. m. instead of
on the usual first Thursday of
the month, due to another con-
flicting meeting.
Mrs. Clara Ebner of Paige is
visiting here with her son and
daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs.
E. E. Ebner. The trio is expect-
ing to drive to Mineral Wells on
Saturday for a visit with Pfc.
and Mrs. Jhn Ebner who are
stationed theree.
Mrs. E. Q. Tynes who has
been spending some time in
Temple, will return here this
weeken and remain in Boerne
until the Xmas holidays.
Col. and Mrs. Clarence Weid-
ner and children, Mrs. Otto
Weidner and Miss Melitta Weid-
ner of New Braunfels visited
friends here on Tuesday.

she is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. M. F. Gass. Arlene, who is
a freshman at TLC, is majoring
in elementary education.

Mrs. Sam Woolford was hos-
tess to the Boerng Reading Club
on Tuesday at the Land 0‘Hills
Lodge.
Miss Jennie Johns chose as
her topic for the afternoon,
Alexander Dumas.

The Rev. C. H. Kehl of San
Antonio will celebrate Holy
Communion at St. Helena’s
Episcopal Church on Sunday,
October 9 at 10:30 a. m.
Col. H. L. Davis, chairman of
the board of H. L. Davis & Son,
San Antonio, Texas, and former-
ly credit manager of the old
Crump & Field Wholesale Gro-
cery Co. here in 1909-10, has ar-
rived by plane to attend the
Kentucky Colonel’s Association
meeting at the Henry Clay Ho- *
tel at 6:30 p. m. Friday and the
Old Timers’ Breakfast Saturday
morning at 10. Mr. Davis is a
brother of Mrs. Grace Horn-
buckle of 1518 Belmont. Col.
and Mrs. Davis are guests at
