Bonnie and her family came
to Portland three years ago
from Premont where she was
serving as city secretary. Her
husband was transferred here
with Sun Oil Company and
Bonnie was hired as city
secretary here* They moved in
on a Friday and she went to
work on Monday
Though she iov cs her job she
regret** she* has had almost no
time to really get acquainted
with women in Portland
Outside activities have been
almost nil She was a member
of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in
other d

adjustments and the park
board She serves as secretary
for each of these- hoards and

When asked if she enjoyed

being said and 1 want to speak
up hut I don't dare, because it
is my job only to take minutes
of these meetings " Bonnie
stressed that confidence is the

must never be discussed

Augustine Her parents, Mr
and Mrs T E Mason, still live
there In moving lo Beaumont,
she will be only ISO miles from
them
She was graduated from high
school in San Augustine and
Elliots Business College in
Beaumont She worked for
Mobil Oil Company after
graduating and a cousin who
worked w ith her introduced her

When their son tireg 24. who
is now a pilot in the Air Force
stationed at W'ebh Air Force
Base Big Springs, was two
years old they moved to
Premont Son, lam was six
months old at the time He is 22
now and a senior at Texas
A&M He plans to go info
dentistry
Ellice 20. a dispatcher at
Portland Police Dc-partment
and Phyllis. 19. who works at
H E.B in Annaville. were born
while Ihe family lived in
Premont
After 20 years in Premont
they moved to Portland
Ellice’s son Brian Horne, age
14 months, is the newest
member of the family
Bonnie says she is as excited
over retiring as she is going
home Those who know Bonnie
laugh when she says she is
retiring They say they give
her three months and then she
will be climbing the walls But
Bonnie says. "I'm going lo
visit, relax and drink coffee "
She may even play a little
bridge
Greg who flies across
country with the Air Force will
be flying into Kllington Air1
Force Base in Houston and
Bonnie can drive in and pick
him up lor a visit She also has
a sister Jean Belser. who lives
in Port Arthur with whom she
plans to do a good deal of
visiting

that she really is looking for
ward to going home

with Sun Oil is a promotion for
him He will he head of the
Corrosion Department there
Bonnie's move may also
prove to he a promotion if she
can really make good her
retirement It seems she really
deserves a rest and time for
herself
