Commemorative
license plates
now available
A new license plate
commemorating 150 years of
Texas statehood became
available Friday at the Gaines
County tax office, said Edith
Renfroe, lax assessor/collector.
"We have only a limited
number, about 250, available for
replacement tags for passenger
vehicles," Renfroe said, "but they
are not available to just
everybody."
Distribution is limited by the
state to passenger cars only, no
commercial or farm vehicles.
They can be purchased for a
$5.30 fee for new vehicles, for
vehicles being re-tagged from out
of state, if current license plates
are five years or more old, or if a
plate is lost and needs replacing.
The new license plates will be
available when the tax office
opens Tuesday, following the
New Year’s Day holiday closing
on Monday.
