Chamber adopts long-range plan
The Seminole Area Chamber of
Commerce board unanimously
agreed to consider a long-range plan
for community development.
After lengthy discussion, the
board approved a motion from Pete
McCleskey to develop a community
promotion brochure and to form a
fund-raising and development
committee for that purpose.
The action came following
discussion of a proposal by "Media
Texas" to print brochures of
Seminole for the chamber.
McCleskey and board member
Buddy Gerber made the point that
with the proper equipment such as
an updated computer, printer, etc.,
the chamber would not have to
"farm out" the printing of
promotional materials and could
develop their own to fit the given
situation.
Gerber was appointed head of the

STORM DAMAGE—Although there were no reports of tornados in Gaines County during a storm
early Tuesday morning, don't tell that to John Redecop, who lives two miles east of the Gaines
County Park on County Road 116. Redecop said he thought it was a tornado that destroyed his
garage and blew it into a peanut field near the residence. In addition, his house was damaged
slightly, a window on the home was broken, and a power pole was damaged. He said the incident
occurred about 4 a.m. Tuesday and the storm came from the southwest. When the garage was
lifted, it caused some damage to a car and pickup inside. Fortunately, no one was injured.
