Sheriff
7/12—A complainant on
Southeast 5th Street informed
sheriffs officers that a checkbook
had been stolen from his residence.
Police
1/9-A complainant in the 500
block of Southwest 15th told
officers that a person or persons
unknown had broken a glass door
with an unknown object. Damage
was estimated at $300.
7/11-A complainant at Manorial
Healthcare Center told police that
sometime between June 26 and July
2 a person or persons unknown had
removed approximately $27 from
a resident's room.
7/11—A complainant in the 300
block of the Hobbs Highway told
police an unknown person was
w alking up and down the highway
yelling.
, 7/11-Police were called to the
400 block of East Avenue A, where
they discovered a subject who
appeared to be under the influence
of alcohol. Arrested for public
intoxication was Clifton Griffin, 50,
of 403 East Avenue A.
7/11-Police received a call that
a subject with a knife was walking
north on Northeast 4th Street.
Police stopped the suspect and it
was discovered that he had an
illegal butterfly knife in his
possession. Police confiscated the
knife and the subject voluntarily
turned himself in to police
Thursday, July 13 on a charge of
unlawful carrying of a weapon. He
was identified as Adrian Perez, 17,
who listed his address as the
Rainbow Motel.
7/12—Seminole police were
called to the north wing of Seminole
Primary School in reference to a
possible break-in. Upon
investigation, it was discovered that
two panes of glass had been broken
out with an unknown tool.
7/12—Seminole police were
informed that a subject may have
taken an overdose of sleeping pills.
However, the alleged victim would
not admit to taking anything.
7/12—A complainant in the 200
block of Southwest Avenue K told
police that a male subject had taken
her car keys from her pocket and
would not give them back.
7/13—A complainant in the 200
block of Northwest Avenue H told
police that a male subject had
violated a protective order by
coming to her residence and trying
to get into her front door.
7/13-Police were called to the
front yard of203 Northwest Avenue
H. where they discovered a subject
w ho appeared to be under the
influence of alcohol. Arrested for
public intoxication was Emilio
Estrada, 59, of 209 SW Avenue K.
7/13—A complainant at the
Allsup’s Store on the Hobbs
Highway told officers a customer
had obtained S23 worth of gas and
left without paying.
7/14—While on routine patrol,
police slopped a vehicle in the 100
block of Southeast Avenue C.
Arrested for driving while
intoxicated was the driver, Johan
Thiessen, 23, while the passenger
in the vehicle, Mario Rivera, 22,
was arrested for public intoxication.
Accidents
7/9-Department of Public Safely
officers investigated a one-vehicle
accident west of Seminole at 1:25
a.m.
Investigators said a 1979 Bronco,
owned by Ignacio Macias of
Seminole and driven by Candelario
Macias, was headed east on the
Hobbs Highway 19.3miles west of
Seminole, when it eased into the
median, overcorrected to the right,
then to the left, and overturned one
complete time in the median.
Investigators said Macias drove
the vehicle another 10 miles, when
the vehicle broke down. In addition
to officers, EMS and fire department
personnel were called to the scene
to search for Macias, but he had
apparently left
The accident is still under
investigation by the DPS.
7/9-At 5:30 p.m., Department of
Public Safety investigators were

control on loose gravel and ran over
a phone junction box.

by officers for failure to control
speed to avoid an accident
7/12-A two-vchicte accident
near the New Mexico State Line
west of Seminole did moderate
damage to both vehicles.
DPS investigators were called to
the scene at 2:43 p.m. 23.6 miles
weston U.S. 180.
Investigators said a 1991 Ford
pickup, driven by Windel Loftin,
47. of Country Line. OK. was exiting
the Fina Station on the south side of
180. crossed one traffic lane and was
attempting a left turn from the
crossover.

headed west on 180, behind the Ford.
As the Ford pulled onto the highway,
it was struck by the Chevrolet.
No injuries were reported.
7/13-At 120 pm, Seminole police
investigated an accident in the 2200
block of the Hobbs Highway.
Investigators said a 1993 Buick
LeSabre, driven by Meda Petteway,
86, of 2306 SW 23rd Sheet, had
turned east onto the Hobbs Highway
from Northwest 23rd Street.
A1991 Dodge 3500 pickup, driven
by Larry Wilkins, 34,of 301 1/2SE
Ave. C, also turned east onto the
Hobbs Highway from private property
located north of the highway. The
Petteway vehicle entered the inner
lane and did not see the Dodge. When
the pickup entered the highway, it
was driven in the left turn lane for
a short distance. Wilkins apparently
failed to see the Buick, attempted
to move into the inner lane, and struck
the Petteway vehicle.
No injuries were reported, but
moderate to heavy damage was done
to the Buick and moderate to the
pickup.
