IDOLS
In the Old Te«tem*nt, the
first two commandments of
the famous Ten Command-
ments were these: Thou shalt
have no other gods before
me; and Thou shalt not make
for yourself any graven im-
age God wanted to impress
on the people that they
should worship only Him and
nothing or no one else When
the people strayed from this
teaching they were punished
When the new lew came,
this idee was repeated. In II
John 5:21, the writer says,
"Little children, keep your-
selves from idols " Today, in
this country, not many peo-
ple have graven images that
they fell down before But
yet we have many idol-wor-
shippers. People worship
money, alcohol, the sun,
pleasure, tobacco, drugs, end
each other Theso ere just
a few of the the things The
list is endless. One worships
God by putting him first One
worships ell these other
things by putting them first
We are commended to have
no idols before us God will
punish those who disobey
Put aside all idols and
come worship God with us.
