An attractive party of the week
was that of Tuesday afternoon
when Mrs Earl Gaston entertained

tiums and peach blossoms adorned

book reviews which have formed
the year’s program the place cards
were tiny i*ooks bearing their va-
rious titles. The table centerpiece
wa a large book entitled "Falfur-
rias Reading Club” which was fill-
ed with a gorgeous bouquet ol
gold and purple pansies. Tall lav-
endar candles in crystal holders
completed the centerpiece. Crystal
bowls filled with purple sweet-
peas decorated other parts of the
dining room.
A delightful musical program
was given by Mrs. Cloyd Hammitt
and was the principal entertain-
ment feature.

cred Heart Church beginning Ash
Wednesday, February 22 The pu-

this mission.
Rev. Wm. F. Blakeslee, Paullst
missionary, is the son of the late
Judge Wm. Blakeslee. He* was born
in Lavaca county, Texas, and was
educated in the parochial and pu-
blic schools of Austin, later at-
tending the Paullst House of Stu-
dies at the Catholic University of
America.
In 11*26 Father Blakeslee was
graduated fr«*m the Catholic Uni-
versity of America in Washington
with the degrees of Bachelor of
Sacred Theology and Master of
Arts. For six years after his ordi-
nation he was attached to the
Newman foundation at the Uni-
versity of Texas where he conduct-
ed Bible courses for university stu-
dents.
Activities Diversified
For the past 4x years Father!
Blakeslee has served as pastor of
St. Austin’s Chapel in Austin, At
various times during the past
twelve years he has held offices in
•eligious and civic organizations.
He has been chaplain of Capital
burg, Martha Nell Crockett, Geor-
gia Bess Sherlock and the hostess
Elizabeth Dale.
