Charles Tolleson, associate
pastor at First Baptist Church,
has resigned to accept the
position of minister of music at
the First Baptist Church of
Sulpher Springs. His
resignation wil become ef-
fective at the close of the
services on July 25.
A home made ice cream and
cake social is planned as an
after-church fellowship
honoring the Tolleson family
that evening.
Those volunteering to bring
freezers of ice cream or cake
are asked to contact Mrs.
Louise Prather or Mrs. Ella
Lee Hart.
Broadways Vacation
Along Rio Grande
The Rev. W. D. Broadway
Pastor of First Baptist Church
and his family have been
vacationing along the Rio
Grande River, seeing Carlsbad
Caverns, visiting friends and
their farm and spending a
week at the lake just resting.

A bridal shower honoring
Miss Gail Tunnell was held at
the C. B. McKennon home
Thursday night, July 8.
Hostess for the evening were
Mrs. Mike Russell, Mrs. Joe

Mrs. Neal Jackson and Miss
Debbie Richardson. Several
friends called during the
evening. All the hostesses and
the honoree are 1970 graduates
of Gregory-Portland High

Miss Tunnell is the bride-
elect of Larry Richter of Taft.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Clarkson and son, Robby, of
Houston spent the weekend in
Portland with her parents, Mr.

The Senior Citizen Club
extends an invitation to any
Gregory-Portland resident, 50
years of age or over, to join
them in the fellowship and fun
at the Parish Hall of Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Catholic
Church in Portland at 7:30
p.m., Monday, July 19.
A donation of 50 cents is
accepted. Refreshments are
served and cards, dominos and
music are furnished for
recreation.

Baptist Youth
Have Busy
Summer Schedule
A number of activities are
being planned for the junior
department youth of the
Baptist Church for this sum-
mer. Steve Martin has a busy
schedule for the rest of the
summer.
Last Tuesday, 19 youth took
the bus trip to the Corpus
Christi Museum. This week,
Mr. Martin took the young
people for a tour of the Coca-
Cola Bottling Plant.
The church bus leaves the
parking lot at 9:30 a.m.
Tuesdays, for the pre-arranged
summer activities. For further
information on these junior
department activities, contact
Steve Martin at the church.
